Mindgruve expands in Europe with Ameo acquisition

Modern media, commerce, and data technology company Mindgruve has acquired Hamburg-based commerce agency Ameo, expanding its presence in Europe and strengthening its ability to support retail media performance across international markets.

The deal brings together Mindgruve’s media, commerce and data technology capabilities with Ameo’s long-standing expertise in Amazon advertising and analytics.

The acquisition is designed to support U.S. and global brands seeking to scale across Europe, with Germany positioned as a key entry point. Ameo works with enterprise brands across markets including Germany and the U.K., helping them navigate complex retail media and marketplace environments.

European expansion and retail media focus

Founded more than a decade ago, Ameo was an early specialist in Amazon-focused services in Germany and has since built advanced capabilities in retail media and advertising technology. Its team adds local and regional expertise to Mindgruve’s international offer, supporting a more scalable European operating model.

Chad Robley, CEO, Mindgruve: “We’re seeing a growing number of U.S. brands look to Germany as the gateway to European commerce—it’s the region’s largest market and the second-largest Amazon market globally, which also makes it one of the most complex to navigate. To meet that demand, Ameo’s team will bring deep local and regional expertise with boots on the ground. Together, we’re establishing a scalable European platform that helps U.S. and global brands expand and perform more consistently across the region.”

Data, analytics and platform integration

Ameo brings experience in Amazon Marketing Cloud, advanced analytics and retail media optimisation. These capabilities will be integrated into Mindgruve’s predictive marketing and business intelligence platform, Sightline, with the aim of improving media performance, insight generation and cross-market measurement consistency for enterprise clients.

Sönke Hansen, founder, Ameo: “What stood out to us about Mindgruve was the strength of its analytics and technology—capabilities that are difficult to find at scale in the German market. Mindgruve brings an advanced measurement and agentic commerce approach that complements our Amazon and retail media expertise, and together we can offer European brands—and U.S. brands entering Europe—a level of transparency, automation, and performance intelligence that simply hasn’t existed here before.”

Growth strategy and leadership

As part of the transaction, Sönke Hansen will take on the role of SVP Commerce, Europe at Mindgruve. The acquisition follows continued growth for Mindgruve across the U.S. and Latin America, alongside further investment in its retail media and commerce capabilities.

Makanta acted as financial and strategic advisor to Ameo on the transaction.
