iO appoints Tim Elsen as COO

iO has appointed Tim Elsen as Chief Operating Officer, a move designed to strengthen its organisational structure and support its growth as an AI-focused marketing and technology partner.

The appointment comes as iO continues its transition from a network of agencies into a single integrated organisation, with campuses across the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark.

Operational alignment across markets

Tim Elsen has worked at iO for more than 12 years, holding a range of leadership roles. In his new position, he will oversee operational coordination and the go-to-market approach across the company’s international footprint.

His remit includes improving consistency and speed of execution across regions, as the organisation continues to align its structure and services.

Focus on AI-driven growth

The appointment reflects iO’s ambition to embed artificial intelligence more deeply into its offering, as clients seek support in adopting and scaling AI within their businesses.

Tim Elsen, Chief Operating Officer, iO: "For years, our mission has been to create added value for our clients at the intersection of marketing and technology. With the innovative power of AI, we are now taking our capabilities to the next level. We have reached a tipping point where quality and time-to-market reinforce each other. I look forward to realising that potential for our clients with the help of our talented teams. What a time to be alive!"

iO positions itself as a partner helping organisations make strategic decisions around AI adoption and implementation, with a focus on long-term integration.

Leadership structure supports next phase

Pieter Janssen, Chief Executive Officer, iO: "With our focus on becoming a fully AI-native agency, now is the right time to strengthen our operational foundation. Tim knows iO inside out. His appointment as COO enables us to continue developing as a single, integrated organisation. At the same time, it frees up more of my time as CEO to focus on our long-term vision and explore new opportunities. I’m looking forward to it."

The leadership change is intended to support iO’s continued development as a unified organisation operating across multiple European markets.
