Uber Goes ‘Oooo’ for Free First Rides
The creative approach places the free first ride at the centre of each scenario while giving Uber a playful way to communicate its value.
Uber has partnered with Talented Agency and Bang Bang Films on a campaign promoting its First Ride Free offer for eligible new riders, using the expression Ooooo to create the brand mnemonic Ooooober.
The campaign features a series of short films and social media executions in which ordinary reactions turn into the distinctive Ooooober expression when people discover the offer.
Uber uses sound to make its offer memorable
Directed by Ryan Mendonca, the 15-second films build on exaggerated vocal reactions and deliberately quirky situations. One spot features a person casually yodelling at a chai stall before the moment takes an unexpected turn. Another follows a woman making playful sounds while petting her cat, eventually arriving at the same Uber-inspired reaction.
The simple narratives rely on sound and recognisable everyday experiences to capture attention. Their short format is designed for social media, allowing the campaign to translate across digital channels while maintaining a consistent creative identity.
Talented Agency develops Uber’s playful brand expression
By transforming Ooooo into Ooooober, the campaign turns a spontaneous expression of delight into a repeatable brand asset. The approach connects the emotional response to discovering a free first ride with Uber’s name, reinforcing the offer through a distinctive audio cue.
The campaign also supports Uber’s bike, auto and car services, giving the brand a consistent expression across its different mobility options. Its combination of humour, sound and social-first storytelling keeps the promotional message central while reinforcing Uber’s playful personality.
