Horizon Media launches HorizonOS combining human marketing with AI

Horizon Media has unveiled HorizonOS, an open operating system designed to support client growth by combining human expertise with technology and AI. The launch positions the company against automation-first strategies, which are increasingly adopted by global holding companies.

Horizon Media is framing HorizonOS as an alternative to closed platforms built primarily for operational efficiency. The system is designed to enable interoperability, shared intelligence, and transparency across teams, partners, data, and models, with the stated goal of improving outcomes for clients rather than optimizing internal margins.

At the core of HorizonOS is an interconnected architecture that brings together three forms of intelligence. Blu functions as the AI-native innovation ecosystem, translating strategy into execution through faster insight generation, audience-centric planning, adaptive activation, and closed-loop measurement.

Agent Q acts as an internal intelligence layer, built on Google Gemini and connected to Horizon’s internal knowledge base. The third layer is human intelligence, which Horizon Media positions as its primary differentiator.

This human layer includes client architects focused on business and competitive strategy, marketing sciences teams driving predictive modeling and segmentation, advanced analytics groups developing measurement frameworks, and product teams sourcing innovation from Horizon’s labs pipeline.

Bob Lord, President of Horizon Media Holdings: “Holding companies are focused on building self-service platforms and automations to benefit their own operational efficiency—which drives agency profits. They’re building closed systems of machines talking to themselves, eventually delivering the most reductive solutions. We’re taking the opposite approach: HorizonOS is designed to bring human expertise and the latest technology to the forefront, creating conditions for co-creation and client growth.”

Horizon Media argues that as insight, execution, and optimization increasingly operate simultaneously, closed systems limit innovation and reduce value for clients.

Alongside HorizonOS, Horizon Media announced HorizonOS Labs, an innovation accelerator designed to test, validate, and scale emerging technologies within an open ecosystem. The Labs aim to convert early-stage innovation into deployable client solutions while reducing adoption risk.

HorizonOS Labs will be led by John Koenigsberg, EVP Head of Product Partnerships, and Asmau Ahmed, Innovator-in-Residence at Horizon. The Labs will operate through three models: Pilot to Platform, which runs structured partner sprints with defined ROI metrics; Bespoke Client Solutions, which develops tools based on specific client challenges; and a Curated Marketplace that enables approved developers to build on Horizon’s infrastructure through open APIs and SDKs.

Initial client engagement includes Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Orkin, alongside technology partners across data, activation, creative, and analytics.

Data and identity partners include ID5 and ZeroToOne. Activation and planning partners include Kargo, Sightly, The Trade Desk, and Vurvey Labs. Creative and brand experience partners include Firsthand, Kerv, Smartly, and Vidmob. Analytics partner Newton Research supports advanced measurement and real-time intelligence.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe and ZeroToOne are piloting predictive QSR audience models within Blu, using daily refreshed signals to identify new consumers and support profitable growth. Orkin and The Trade Desk are running a pilot that links media investment directly to business outcomes through custom bidding models designed to predict long-term customer value and retention.

John Koenigsberg, EVP Head of Product Partnerships: “HorizonOS Labs is the connective tissue that makes the vast universe of AI-native marketing capabilities work together intelligently and responsibly for our clients. By bringing together marketers and premier technology partners to create an innovation flywheel, this is about de-risking early adoption for our clients and providing them with a first-mover advantage.”

Horizon Media positions HorizonOS as a strategic response to converging industry forces, including AI orchestration, emerging standards, and increasing pressure on agencies to demonstrate measurable client impact. The company’s approach centers on openness and collaboration as drivers of growth, in contrast to closed systems designed primarily around holding company economics.
