Tangerine expands PR role with The Works

he expanded remit now includes day-to-day PR activity and corporate storytelling in collaboration with the retailer's leadership team

Tangerine has secured an expanded PR brief with retailer The Works, taking responsibility for both consumer and corporate communications in the UK following a competitive pitch.

The agency has worked with The Works over the past year on consumer campaigns, including Boredom Board and Find Your Story, which supported the National Literacy Trust's National Year of Reading. The expanded remit now includes day-to-day PR activity and corporate storytelling in collaboration with the retailer's leadership team.

Agency broadens remit

The communications programme will focus on The Works' Time Well Spent brand proposition while supporting its position as a destination for affordable, screen-free activities for families.

Suzi Burns, associate director, Tangerine: "We’re thrilled to have been appointed as The Works’ new retained consumer and corporate PR agency. Our work with the brand over the past year is something we’re very proud of and we’re looking forward to amplifying the brand’s purpose, range and role as a key retail player further in this next phase of our partnership."

Rachel Forrest, head of brand marketing, The Works: "Over the last year Tangerine has played an important role in helping us bring our brand campaigns to life and connect with customers in meaningful ways.

"As we continue to evolve the business and strengthen our position as the go-to destination for affordable, screen-free fun, we're excited to expand the partnership and work together to tell the next chapter of The Works story."

Focus on consumer and corporate communications

The appointment extends Tangerine's responsibilities beyond campaign work to include corporate PR and ongoing communications support for the retailer.

Luke McDowell, corporate news director, Tangerine: "The Works perfectly aligns with our corporate PR experience across the retail sector and following the recent closure of their transactional website platform, this is a really exciting time to be working with a business laser-focused on its brick-and-mortar offering."
