Hyundai Motor Group turns technology into music
The track interprets the transformation of raw materials into finished vehicles through electronic music, using layered beats and synthesised textures to reflect the precision and complexity of advanced manufacturing
Hyundai Motor Group has partnered with Korean electronic musician KIRARA on Temper, a composition that translates the Group’s approach to technology development into sound.
The track interprets the transformation of raw materials into finished vehicles through electronic music, using layered beats and synthesised textures to reflect the precision and complexity of advanced manufacturing.
Hyundai translates manufacturing into sound
The Korean title Jeongryeon (정련), referring to the refining of materials by removing impurities to reveal their purest and most valuable form, provides the conceptual basis for the composition.
Temper begins with an ambient introduction representing the possibilities contained in raw materials. As the track develops, increasingly layered beats mirror the emergence of a vehicle, before the composition concludes with a clearer, crystalline sound representing the finished product.
KIRARA combines techno and electronic influences
The composition incorporates elements of ambient techno, including glitch and breakbeat, to create a soundscape intended to reflect the technical complexity of Hyundai Motor Group’s technology development.
KIRARA: "Working on Hyundai Motor Group's new technology was a constant source of wonder, much like when I first learned synthesizing. I wanted to express the refined technology and the feeling I had when encountering it through equally refined music."
Korean electronic artist brings international experience
KIRARA has released five studio albums since beginning her career in 2014 and has performed at events including Pentaport Rock Festival in South Korea, the Venice Biennale in Italy, SXSW in the US and Primavera Pro in Spain.
Her music draws on 1990s British dance music and 2000s Japanese electronic music, combining melodic elements to create contrasts between melancholy and euphoria. She performs more than 30 live sets each year at venues in South Korea and internationally, composing performances using a computer and MIDI controller.
KIRARA wins second Korean Music Award
KIRARA received the Best Electronic Album award at the 23rd Korean Music Awards in 2026 for her fifth studio album, KIRARA. The recognition marks her second win in the category, following her 2017 award for Moves, her second studio album.
The supplied announcement does not specify where listeners can access Temper.
