Hyundai film highlights adaptive racing innovation
Hyundai has released Faster Than Fear: Wickens Into the Green Hell, a short-form documentary following racing driver Robert Wickens as he returns to elite endurance competition at the ADAC RAVENOL 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.
The film debuted on the Hyundai USA YouTube channel and documents Wickens’ participation in one of motorsport’s most demanding endurance races, marking another stage in his return to professional racing following a life-changing crash in 2018.
Documentary follows Wickens’ racing comeback
The documentary traces Robert Wickens’ recovery after a crash in 2018 left him paralyzed from the waist down. Through archival footage, race coverage, and personal reflections, the film explores his return to competitive motorsport and his transition back into endurance racing.
The story also follows Wickens’ championship-winning return to touring cars and the preparation required to compete on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, commonly known as “The Green Hell.”
Film highlights adaptive racing technology
Narrated by automotive journalist and racing driver Chris Harris, the documentary examines the collaboration between Robert Wickens, Bryan Herta Autosport, and technical partners to develop hand-control technology adapted for endurance racing.
The film highlights how the technology enables Wickens to compete alongside able-bodied drivers in touring car categories while meeting the physical and technical demands of endurance competition.
Hyundai focuses on endurance racing development
The documentary also connects Wickens’ Nürburgring participation to Hyundai’s wider endurance racing and vehicle development activities.
Designed for digital audiences, the production includes footage from the Nürburgring circuit, behind-the-scenes access with the racing team, and insights into the engineering solutions supporting Wickens’ return to top-level motorsport.
