P-22 Agency to lead PR for El Encanto
The agency will oversee strategic communications as the property prepares for a planned $40 million renovation
P-22 Agency has been appointed public relations agency of record for El Encanto, a historic luxury resort in Santa Barbara, California. The agency will oversee strategic communications as the property prepares for a planned $40 million renovation while supporting its long-term positioning and media profile.
The appointment expands P-22 Agency's hospitality portfolio and includes responsibility for media relations, influencer engagement, strategic partnerships, and communications surrounding the resort's renovation. The agency will also promote El Encanto as a base for visitors attending major Santa Barbara events, including Old Spanish Days Fiesta in August 2026 and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February 2027.
P-22 Agency to lead communications strategy
Ty Bentsen, founder and CEO of P-22 Agency: "I feel a deep and personal connection to El Encanto. Having re-opened the property in 2013 in a previous role, I understand the property's storied past, its evolution, and how the property has earned its reputation as the Clubhouse of the American Riviera. This is a place where luxury is delivered without pretense and where guests don't need permission to be themselves.
"And with a transformative $40 million renovation on the horizon, P-22 Agency is in a unique position to steward El Encanto's next great chapter as an integrated, strategic communications partner."
Originally opened in 1918, El Encanto has long been associated with artists, entertainers and public figures. Located on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the resort features 90 individually designed bungalows and suites set across seven acres of terraced gardens.
Resort prepares for next phase
As part of its remit, P-22 Agency will support communications around the renovation project while highlighting the resort's hospitality offering and its connection to the Santa Barbara destination.
The property includes landscaped gardens, a historic reflection pond, a zero-edge swimming pool, a boutique spa, and The Dining Room and Terrace, led by Chef Joel Viehland. Guests can also take part in experiences across the region, including wine tastings, sailing, horseback riding, surfing, mountain biking and tennis.
