LePub creates real-time activation for Toblerone

LePub has helped Toblerone enter a viral online design discussion with a social media activation that used the chocolate brand’s distinctive triangular shape to respond to one of the internet’s most talked-about automotive design debates.

The real-time creative featured a reimagined Toblerone pack with rounded edges alongside the statement, "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING.", followed by the message: "Rounded is not our thing. We always keep the angles."

Toblerone responds to cultural moment

The activation was developed as online conversations around automotive design gained traction across social media platforms, news outlets and online communities.

Rather than commenting directly on the debate, Toblerone used one of its most recognisable brand assets—its triangular shape—to make a playful contribution that aligned with its identity.

The post quickly gained organic engagement and attracted coverage across marketing, design, business and automotive media.

LePub focuses on cultural participation

According to LePub, the activation reflects its broader approach to helping brands participate in cultural conversations as they unfold.

The agency argues that effective brand communications increasingly depend on identifying authentic opportunities to contribute to topics people are already discussing rather than creating interruptions through traditional advertising alone.

In this instance, Toblerone's packaging design provided a natural connection to an ongoing public debate, allowing the brand to engage without moving away from its established identity.

Distinctive brand assets drive engagement

The campaign centred on one of Toblerone's most recognisable features, using the product's shape as the creative device rather than relying on a promotional message.

Magali Mirault, Senior Marketing Director, Toblerone Global: "One of Toblerone’s greatest strengths is that its shape is instantly recognisable around the world. This moment gave us a natural opportunity to engage with culture in a way that felt timely and true to the brand. The reaction showed that when brands truly own what makes them distinctive, it can genuinely resonate with people."

Creativity rooted in brand identity

LePub said the activation demonstrates how brands can respond quickly to cultural developments while remaining consistent with their core positioning.

Bruno Bertelli, Global CEO, LePub and Global Chief Creative Officer, LePub Worldwide: "Culture moves faster than campaigns ever could. Brands today have an opportunity to earn relevance by contributing to conversations as they unfold, rather than waiting to interrupt them. The key is not simply reacting quickly, but doing so in a way that is authentic to the brand. Toblerone has owned its distinctive triangular shape for generations, so when this conversation emerged, it gave us a natural and credible way to participate. The result shows that when creativity is rooted in brand truth, even the simplest ideas can travel far beyond paid media."

Real-time marketing continues to evolve

The activation forms part of LePub's ongoing focus on creating brand activity that responds to developments in culture and social conversation.

By leveraging a familiar visual asset, Toblerone was able to participate in a trending discussion while reinforcing one of the brand characteristics most closely associated with its identity.
