John Frieda unveils global Salon Attitude campaign
John Frieda has unveiled a global relaunch supported by a refreshed brand platform, Salon Attitude. Every Day., marking a shift in how the haircare brand presents itself worldwide. The integrated campaign has been created by VCCP, John Frieda’s global creative agency of record, and signals a repositioning focused on confidence rather than technical product claims.
Rolling out across television, online video, social, retail and digital channels, the campaign will run throughout 2026. It aims to stand out in a crowded haircare category by emphasising the everyday impact of great hair and the self-belief that comes with achieving salon-quality results at home.
Confidence-led positioning replaces category tropes
John Frieda’s brand ambition centres on delivering salon-level haircare solutions for everyday use. The campaign brings this idea to life by focusing on the sense of empowerment that comes from styling your own hair, rather than relying on complex scientific explanations.
By moving away from category conventions that prioritise formulas and technical language, the work highlights the emotional benefit of having hair that makes people feel confident and in control of their day.
Global film anchors the creative platform
The campaign was developed by VCCP following its appointment as global creative agency of record in 2024. The hero film was directed by Tom Dream through RSA, in collaboration with VCCP’s global content studio Girl&Bear.
Set on a reimagined “John Frieda Street”, the film features reflective streets, steps and buildings that mirror the confidence of women as they move through their day. The visual approach uses reflection as a metaphor for how a good hair day can influence self-perception. A bespoke soundtrack, Mirrors, was written by Will Vaughan and Dream-Co for the film.
Photography showcases range and representation
The campaign also includes photography by New York-based fashion photographer David Roemer. He shot eight lead talents representing a broad spectrum of hair types supported by the John Frieda product portfolio.
This visual system reinforces the campaign’s focus on everyday confidence across different styles and textures, aligning with the brand’s intention to be relevant to a wide audience.
Brand relaunch spans product and packaging
Kathryn Hill, brand communications director, Kao: “This relaunch is a milestone for John Frieda. The visual identity, sustainable packaging, reformulated products and campaign come together to mark a new era for the brand, bringing our Salon Attitude. Every Day. promise to life. Working with VCCP has been truly collaborative and the campaign celebrates the spirit and attitude that defines John Frieda.”
Ciara O’Meara, deputy executive creative director, VCCP: “Haircare advertising often gets lost in complicated product talk. We shifted the focus to the feeling you get when your hair is on point and you catch your reflection. The campaign centres on confidence, transformation and the emotional benefit of creating salon-quality hair yourself every day.”
