HEINZ introduces fry box with built-in ketchup dip
HEINZ has introduced the HEINZ Dipper, a fry box designed with a built-in ketchup compartment to make dipping easier while on the move. The packaging concept addresses a long-standing challenge for consumers who want to enjoy French fries and ketchup outside traditional sit-down settings.
The HEINZ Dipper is engineered to combine fries and ketchup in a single container, allowing users to dip without juggling sauce packets or risking spills. The patent-pending design will be available at participating restaurants and sports stadiums across eleven countries.
Addressing on-the-go eating habits
Eating fries with ketchup away from the table has often proved inconvenient. Research cited by the brand shows that 70 percent of ketchup and fry consumers have spilled ketchup when dipping on the go, while 80 percent have considered skipping condiments altogether due to unsuitable packaging.
The HEINZ Dipper is intended to respond to these behaviours with a simple, contained format that supports dipping in cars, at events and in other mobile settings, without additional packaging.
Packaging innovation rooted in brand cues
Nina Patel, vice president, global Heinz Brand, The Kraft Heinz Company: “After spotlighting the resemblance between fry boxes and our HEINZ Keystone globally, we wanted to redesign the fry box to work harder for HEINZ lovers. As more eating occasions happen away from home, the HEINZ Dipper is a way to meet fans where they are and reinforce our role in everyday moments.”
The brand positions the packaging as part of its broader focus on away-from-home consumption, reflecting the growing importance of drive-through, delivery and event-based dining occasions.
Global rollout across multiple markets
The HEINZ Dipper will roll out across eleven markets, including six cities in the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Portugal, the Philippines, Thailand, China and Kuwait. Fries will be served in the HEINZ Dipper container at selected locations while supplies last.
According to the brand, the rollout represents its most extensive global activation to date, spanning multiple regions and foodservice environments.
Testing long-term growth potential
The launch also serves as a test for expanded distribution within HEINZ’s away-from-home channel. By introducing the HEINZ Dipper across a broad international footprint, the brand is assessing how packaging innovation can support longer-term growth while strengthening its presence in everyday eating occasions.
