Clear Channel drives breast cancer awareness

. The campaign running across digital out-of-home advertising networks in the United States throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Clear Channel Outdoor and OUTFRONT Media have partnered with the Million Mammograms Challenge to encourage women to schedule breast cancer screenings.

Now in its second year, the initiative encourages women to schedule their mammograms and share their appointment dates to promote early detection. Its creative carries the slogan Cancer Isn't the Star of My Story, highlighting the importance of screening and challenging the stigma surrounding breast cancer.

Outdoor media supports breast cancer awareness

Advertising technology executive Mindie Kaplan founded the Million Mammograms Challenge to encourage conversations about women's health, challenge shame surrounding breast cancer and promote early detection. The campaign developed after Kaplan shared a photograph taken by Tom Kubik six months after her double mastectomy, marking the halfway point of her surgeries. The response to the image on Instagram inspired her to launch a nationwide initiative encouraging women to post their mammogram dates and motivate others to book screenings.

Mindie Kaplan, founder of the Million Mammograms Challenge: "Since the launch of the Million Mammograms Challenge, we have worked to reach millions of young women and advocate for them to take the next step in their health journeys by scheduling their mammogram dates. The support of Clear Channel Outdoor and OUTFRONT helps us reach them through billboards they come across in their daily lives and reduce the stigma around breast cancer and early screenings."

Clear Channel Outdoor and OUTFRONT expand campaign reach

Through the partnership, Clear Channel Outdoor and OUTFRONT Media are using their digital billboard networks to promote screening awareness. The campaign's creative is appearing across thousands of digital billboards nationwide during October, bringing the message into the public spaces where audiences encounter out-of-home advertising.

Dan Levi, EVP and CMO, Clear Channel Outdoor: "Our joint partnership with the Million Mammograms Challenge reflects the industry's commitment to leveraging the reach and scale of our networks for good by helping to drive one million mammograms by 2028. The campaign is a reminder of what out-of-home can do when combined with a meaningful cause that inspires real, measurable impact across the communities we serve."

Million Mammograms targets one million screenings by 2028

The initiative aims to encourage one million mammograms by 2028, using public-facing advertising to prompt women to take action on their health. Its messaging focuses on the role of early detection and regular screening in breast cancer care.

Stacy Minero, Chief Marketing Officer, OUTFRONT Media: "Mindie started with an idea. Today, it's a movement with the power to change lives. We're proud to partner with Million Mammograms and Clear Channel Outdoor to help bring this important message to communities across the country. Together, we're using the scale of our networks to raise awareness, encourage early detection, and inspire people to take action."

The partnership demonstrates how out-of-home media companies can use their advertising networks to support public health awareness and encourage audiences to take action on screening.
