DoubleVerify expands measurement for ChatGPT ads

DoubleVerify expands measurement for ChatGPT ads

The initiative is intended to help independent partners assess brand suitability policies and guardrails in a controlled environment without accessing private user conversations.

DoubleVerify has launched attribution measurement for advertising on ChatGPT, allowing advertisers to assess ChatGPT Ads alongside other marketing touchpoints and measure their contribution to conversions, customer acquisition and return on ad spend.

The media verification company is also developing a brand suitability evaluation pilot with OpenAI.

DoubleVerify measures ChatGPT Ads across customer journeys

The attribution capability integrates ChatGPT Ads into DV Rockerbox, allowing advertisers to evaluate the channel alongside other media investments rather than measuring it in isolation. The approach is designed to show how ChatGPT contributes to acquisition goals and broader campaign performance.

Mark Zagorski, CEO, DoubleVerify: "Advertisers want to understand not just whether a new channel is performing, but the business impact it’s actually driving. By bringing ChatGPT Ads into DV’s attribution measurement through DV Rockerbox™, marketers can connect engagement on ChatGPT to outcomes and return on ad spend, giving them a clearer view of its role across the customer journey."

Weight Watchers reports lower acquisition costs with ChatGPT Ads

Weight Watchers used ChatGPT Ads as a member acquisition channel and applied DV Rockerbox to measure its performance independently. During the measured period, ChatGPT's attributed cost per acquisition was 15.3 percent below the company's established benchmark.

Jake Dmochowski, VP of Growth, Weight Watchers: "As new advertising channels emerge, we need to understand how they contribute to the broader customer journey. DV Rockerbox helped us put ChatGPT Ads performance into context alongside our existing investments, giving us an encouraging early signal and greater clarity as we evaluate how to scale."

DoubleVerify and OpenAI develop brand suitability pilot

The brand suitability pilot being developed by DoubleVerify and OpenAI will assess conversational context at scale. It is intended to help advertisers evaluate whether ad placements align with their brand suitability preferences while providing greater visibility into how policies and guardrails operate.

Mark Zagorski: "Conversational environments are fundamentally different because context is dynamic. What a user asks, how the AI responds and how the conversation evolves can all shape the environment in which an ad appears. That requires a new approach to brand risk and suitability. As advertising on ChatGPT scales, advertisers need confidence that their brands are appearing in suitable environments, with context evaluated while user privacy is protected."

Measurement combines attribution and brand suitability

DoubleVerify says the two initiatives address separate but related advertiser requirements: measuring the business impact of ChatGPT advertising and assessing the suitability of the environments in which ads appear.

The capabilities form part of the DV Media AdVantage Platform, which combines media verification, AI-powered optimization through DV Scibids AI and campaign outcome measurement through DV Rockerbox. The platform is designed to help advertisers measure and improve media effectiveness and return on ad spend across channels, devices and formats.
