FloVision Solutions raises $8.7m Series A to bring AI to food production facilities

FloVision Solutions (FloVision), a startup bringing AI-powered yield and quality analytics for protein production to the global food industry, has raised $8.7 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by global software investor Insight Partners, with participation from Serra Ventures, SOSV, and Rockstart. The funds will support FloVision's rapid growth across North AmericaEuropeAustraliaSouth America, and Asia and accelerate hiring in engineering, AI/ML, and sales roles.

Rian Mc Donnell, Founder and CEO, FloVision: "This funding unlocks a whole new world of food production tech. We're already helping protein processors run more efficiently and take control of their operations. With these new resources, we're doubling down on solving real customer problems and speeding up the rollout of features we know the food industry needs."

FloVision builds AI-powered tools that help food processors measure yield, monitor quality, and improve labor performance in real time. Its compact sensors attach directly to conveyor belts and workstations, scanning each product with vision, depth, and load cell sensors as it moves through the line. This gives processors the ability to analyze yield, quality, and staff performance on a per-piece basis - without disrupting production.

The system also detects defects, misgrades, and foreign materials in real time, triggering automatic alerts and enabling sorting, regrading, or rejection on the spot. It also matches products to the right customer specs, pinpoints areas of loss or recovery, and captures traceability data from origin to final delivery.

All data flows into a centralized dashboard where supervisors can spot trends and compare performance across shifts, enabling them to take action more quickly and effectively. With FloVision, food producers get the insights they need to improve operations and output.

Jeff Horing, Co-founder and Managing Director, Insight Partners: "FloVision is setting a new standard for operational excellence in protein processing. By leveraging computer vision hardware and software, FloVision's platform can plug into processing stations to create long-term durability and immediate ROI with yield optimization. They're not just adding analytics - they're reshaping how production decisions are made across the industry."

As part of the round, Madeleine Goldberg, investor at Insight Partners, will be joining FloVision's board. "Up to 20% of global meat production is lost before consumption, costing the industry $200 billion annually - with recalls adding $20 billion more. Flovision uses AI to cut this waste at the source, creating value for producers, consumers, and the environment," said Goldberg.

Since launching in 2020, FloVision has processed over 23.2 million kilograms [51.1 million lbs] of food and deployed its system in leading beef and poultry plants across North AmericaEurope, and Australia. Customers using the platform have recovered up to 1.5% more yield, improved quality control, and boosted staff training and efficiency.

By embedding FloVision into their core workflows, protein production and food processing facilities see increased yield and quicker time to value in a market that has been traditionally slow to innovate. FloVision customers have seen up to 15x ROI by reducing waste, recovering lost yield, and making faster, data-driven decisions on the production floor.
