Sander Volten announces exit from 180 Global after eight transformative years
The Omnicom-owned creative boutique 180 Global, with offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Amsterdam, has announced that Sander Volten will resign as CEO at the end of 2024.
After eight years at the helm of the agency, Volten plans to pursue new opportunities outside the advertising sector.
Under Volten's leadership, 180 Global experienced significant growth, expanding its business and capabilities. Notably, the agency opened a New York office in 2021 and forged strategic partnerships with TBWA in various markets, including the MENA and APAC regions. The agency diversified its offerings, moving beyond traditional television work to embrace digital strategy, innovation, brand activation, and social-first approaches.
This evolution led to the establishment of specialized units like 180 Thinking, 180 Social, and 180 LUXE, aimed at enhancing brand consultancy and servicing luxury clients.
Throughout his tenure, 180 Global has won numerous accolades, including prestigious awards from Cannes Lions, D&AD, EPICA, Eurobest, and The One Show, serving high-profile clients such as PlayStation, PepsiCo, and Qatar Airways. The agency's client portfolio includes longstanding partnerships with brands like DHL and premium names such as BMW, Dior, and Omega. Last year, the agency also welcomed back founding client Adidas.
Volten: "It has been an extraordinary journey leading 180 over the past eight years. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together, continuously pushing the boundaries of creativity, and working with extraordinary colleagues and clients who share our vision to see the world as it could be. As I look toward the next chapter, I’m excited to explore new opportunities and find my own world as it could be."
Troy Ruhanen, CEO, TBWA Global and soon-to-be CEO, Omnicom Advertising Group: “Sander has led a wonderful chapter at 180. He has a unique ability to bring out the best in talent and envision what is possible for our clients. With the leadership of Agathe Guerrier and Stephen Corlett, he leaves the agency well-prepared for its next phase. I thank him for his dedication over the past eight years and wish him success in his future endeavors.”
Starting January 2025, 180 Global's leadership will transition to a structure that spans its U.S. and Amsterdam offices, led by U.S. CEO Agathe Guerrier and Amsterdam CEO Stephen Corlett.
