DoorDash campaign targets last-minute holiday shoppers

DoorDash campaign targets last-minute holiday shoppers

GUT Los Angeles has partnered with DoorDash to launch Last Minute Rescue, a social-led sweepstakes designed to support shoppers whose holiday gifts are delayed in shipping. The campaign positions DoorDash as a last-minute option for replacing gifts during the peak holiday period.

Running from December 20 to December 21, the initiative invites consumers to enter a sweepstakes for the chance to receive a replacement gift delivered via DoorDash. The activation focuses on everyday holiday stress points, highlighting how on-demand delivery can help shoppers secure items in time for celebrations.

Social-first activation targets holiday delivery stress

Developed by GUT Los Angeles, the campaign centres on social participation, encouraging users to comment on DoorDash sweepstakes posts using a designated hashtag. Entry triggers an automated direct message linking participants to a form where they can submit details about their delayed gift.

The creative approach avoids traditional holiday advertising tropes, instead leaning into the reality of shipping delays and last-minute shopping behaviour. The aim is to demonstrate utility at the moment consumers are most likely to need an alternative.

Bruno Acanfora, Chief Creative Officer, GUT Los Angeles: “Last Minute Rescue is built on a simple truth: modern holiday stress is fueled by logistics, not lack of intention. So instead of adding more holiday noise, we built something useful that shows up exactly when things start to fall apart.”

Sweepstakes mechanics and rewards

Participants who complete the entry form are eligible to be selected as winners, with DoorDash allocating 100,000 dollars in gifts redeemable through promo codes and replacement links sent by email. Winners will begin to be announced from December 22.

In the lead-up to the sweepstakes, the campaign also includes a twelve-day pre-activation in which 60 customers affected by shipping delays will receive a gift card covering the full cost of their missing item.

Jennifer Richardi, Head of Brand and Creative at DoorDash: “The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year, but even the best-laid plans can go sideways. When that must-have gift doesn’t show up on time or a package doesn’t quite make the sleigh, DoorDash steps in to keep the magic on track. From beauty and tech to apparel and more, our holiday rescue is about getting the presents you need today, not in two days.”
