Ogilvy appoints Guillermo Vega Chief Creative Officer for North America
Ogilvy has appointed Guillermo Vega as Chief Creative Officer for North America. A globally recognised creative leader and agency builder, Vega will oversee the creative direction and output across all of Ogilvy’s clients and capabilities in its largest region, representing brands such as The Coca-Cola Company, Unilever, Verizon, IBM, SC Johnson, Workday, and Mastercard.
Vega will also continue as Global Creative Network Lead for WPP Open X, the bespoke WPP agency team dedicated to The Coca-Cola Company. In this expanded role, he will guide a creative studio focused on enhancing Ogilvy’s value-driven creativity and integrating agentic AI into every stage of brand storytelling—from concept development to final production.
Strengthening creativity through technology and collaboration
Liz Taylor, Global Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy: “Guillermo is a singular talent—a leader who embodies kindness and candor, champions brave ideas, and inspires teams to never stop learning. His extraordinary work with The Coca-Cola Company continues to masterfully unlock the full power of Ogilvy’s global network, delivering culture-shifting ideas that create real impact for one of the world's most iconic brands. We are thrilled to have him apply that experience to the work we do for our clients across this vital region in the network.”
Vega: “Creating brand impact today is about unleashing creativity at the intersections – of culture, technology, categories. I’ve seen it firsthand in the work we do for Coca-Cola, and I'm beyond inspired to bring those insights and approaches to all our clients here in North America, while continuing to deliver boundary-pushing brand experiences for TCCC. No one knows creative excellence better than Ogilvy, and I am excited to carry that legacy forward for and with our incredible talent.”
Proven creative leadership and award-winning work
Vega’s promotion reflects his impact leading Ogilvy’s creative work for The Coca-Cola Company. Under his direction, Coca-Cola was named Cannes Lions Creative Brand of the Year 2024—the brand’s first such recognition. His leadership produced several high-profile campaigns, including It’s Magic When the World Comes Together for the Paris Olympics, The Athlete’s Code supporting athletes’ mental health, Recycle Me—Coca-Cola’s first Cannes Lions Grand Prix winner in a decade—and a creative partnership with Converse celebrating connection and creativity.
A respected voice in global advertising, Vega has built a career defined by creative excellence and talent development. His campaigns have earned recognition at major international festivals, reflecting a consistent ability to craft ideas that drive growth and cultural relevance.
Building on a career of creative innovation
Before joining Ogilvy, Vega served as Chief Creative Officer at Saatchi & Saatchi London, overseeing all creative output since 2018. His earlier experience includes leadership at 72andSunny New York and co-founding Wieden+Kennedy São Paulo, where he grew the agency from a three-person startup into a team of 100 within four years. His career also includes more than a decade at Y&R, where he managed global accounts for Dell, Bacardi, Virgin Atlantic, and VH1 across Latin America.
In an internal note, Liz Taylor also announced that Rafa Rizuto is leaving Ogilvy to pursue a new opportunity.
Liz: “Rafa Rizuto has decided to leave Ogilvy to pursue a new opportunity that will be announced in the coming days. While we’re sad to see him go, we’re grateful for the impact he’s had during his time with us. Rafa is an extraordinary talent and human being. I know you’ll all join me in wishing him nothing but success as he embarks on this next chapter of his career.”
