WFA and X end GARM legal dispute

The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and X Corp. have ended the litigation related to the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), marking a reset in the relationship between the two organizations.

Organizations outline future approach
WFA said it remains committed to freedom of speech, noting that the principle has been part of its founding constitution since 1953 and is shared by X.
The organizations also reaffirmed that GARM, which WFA discontinued on August 9, 2024, will not be re-established or replaced by a similar initiative.
Focus shifts to brand safety
According to the joint statement, WFA and X are aligned on the importance of advancing brand-safety innovation, describing it as beneficial for brands, digital platforms and consumers.
The announcement brings to a close the legal dispute between the two organisations and establishes a framework for their future relationship based on shared priorities around freedom of speech and brand safety.
