Vodafone Spain launches Wi-Fi 6 service to multiply Wi-Fi speed by 4 to fiber customers
Vodafone Spain announced that, starting today, all its new fiber customers can access Wi-Fi 6 technology, thanks to its Vodafone Wi-Fi 6 Station router and the Super WiFi 6 service, for €9.99/month.
This new generation of Wi-Fi technology (802.11ax) represents a leap in quality for Vodafone customers, as it offers:
- Up to 4 times faster
- Greater security, thanks to the WPA3 standard
- Lower latency, very important for online gaming and video conferencing
- Possibility of connecting up to 120 devices without losing quality
- Up to 3 times less battery consumption from connected devices
The Vodafone Wi-Fi 6 Station router is the most advanced model offered by the operator to its fixed network customers. In addition to the aforementioned features of Wi-Fi 6 technology, this router provides better coverage than other equipment, thanks to its 4x4 antennas in each of the Wi-Fi bands (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz).
In 2020, Vodafone began to roll out this new router among its converged customers and, after the success of the tests carried out, the offer is extended to its customers with fiber network access. On the other hand, the Super WiFi 6 service ensures that this advanced experience can be enjoyed from any corner of the home or business. Through extenders with Wi-Fi 6 technology, a cloud platform continuously optimizes the customer's home Wi-Fi network intelligently and transparently, based on timing, usage, number of connected devices, etc.
The installation of the service includes the visit of a technician who goes to the client's home and does a coverage study, leaving Super WiFi installed and working. In this way, maximum coverage is ensured with greater stability.
All new Vodafone One customers Home Unlimited, those who contract the 1Gbps fiber speed option will have by default included both the new Vodafone Wi-Fi 6 Station router and a Super WiFi 6 extender. In case of needing more access points, the client must pay a supplement of €4.99/month for each of them, being possible to enjoy a maximum of 5 extenders.
For new customers with other plans who wish to enjoy the Wi-Fi 6 experience, they will have the option of contracting the Vodafone Wi-Fi 6 Station router and the Super WiFi 6 service with an extender included for €9.99/month. In the event that they only wish to access the new router, they can hire it for €3/month.
Current Vodafone customers will also be able to benefit from this new connectivity standard and hire the Super WiFi 6 service for €9.99/month, with two extenders included. In the event that the customer already has the current Super WiFi service, they can update their experience and replace their extenders with the new ones with Wi-Fi 6 for €9.99/month or they will be replaced free of charge if they change their rate to any modality of Vodafone One Home Unlimited with 1Gbps fiber speed. In any of the situations, if an additional extender is needed, the customer may do so by paying a supplement of €4.99/month for each one of them, being possible to enjoy a maximum of 5 extenders.
