Spotify partners with The Game Awards on game music
Spotify has partnered with The Game Awards to spotlight the composers and soundtracks that shape the gaming experience, marking the collaboration with a series of exclusive Spotify Singles released alongside the ceremony.
The Game Awards celebrates achievement across gaming, recognising creative and technical excellence as well as individuals and teams influencing the medium’s future. Spotify’s involvement places a specific focus on music and audio as core elements of how games are experienced by players.
Spotify Singles rework iconic game soundtracks
As part of the partnership, Spotify commissioned three Spotify Singles from artists who are also active gamers. Each artist reinterprets a well-known gaming track, with the recordings available exclusively on Spotify.
Labrinth has reworked a track associated with the Sonic franchise. Bilmuri has created a reinterpretation inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, while Evanescence and GUNSHIP have collaborated on a version of a track from Devil May Cry.
The releases are positioned as a way to connect game soundtracks with wider music audiences while acknowledging their cultural influence.
Artists reflect on gaming influences
Labrinth: "Sonic was such a formative part of my gaming upbringing that making a Spotify Single with Sonic at the heart was an amazing opportunity. I hope fellow Sonic fans check it out, along with the amazing music created by Bilmuri and Evanescence with GUNSHIP."
Johnny Franck, singer, Bilmuri: "Gaming has always been a huge part of my life, and recording a track based on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a super-cool experience. Some of my strongest memories of music come from the games I play, and I wanted to convey that energy with this Spotify Single."
Amy Lee, singer, Evanescence: "We’ve been looking for an excuse to work with GUNSHIP for too long and couldn’t be more excited about this dark new version of Afterlife. Being a part of the Devil May Cry series has been an honor and too much fun. See you at The Game Awards!"
Support for game audio extends beyond the event
Spotify’s involvement also includes sponsorship of The Game Awards’ Best Score and Music category, reinforcing its focus on recognising composers and sound designers. The partnership builds on Spotify’s broader activity within gaming, including collaborations with titles such as EA FC 26, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 and Battlefield in 2025.
Alex Freeman, Music and Marketing Partnerships Lead, Spotify: "The Game Awards is such a big celebration of gaming culture, and we felt it was the perfect moment to celebrate the composers, artists, and soundtracks that make video games so immersive. Through this partnership we wanted to give back to the fans who are at the heart of it all through the three amazing new Spotify Singles."
Geoff Keighley, host and creator, The Game Awards: "Video game music is the heartbeat of our industry, and partnering with Spotify lets us celebrate it on the world’s biggest audio stage. We’re thrilled to have Spotify lean in like this to not only celebrate but also amplify and accelerate the appreciation of some of this year’s best video game music."
