Scope3 rebrands as Apostra for agent-led advertising

Campaigns are currently running through Apostra in the US, UK, South Africa, Brazil, the Netherlands and France, covering display, CTV, audio and out-of-home advertising.

Scope3 is becoming Apostra, a platform designed to give advertisers, agencies, media companies and their agents direct access to advertising opportunities across digital, social, television, audio, outdoor and print.

The company says Apostra is designed to preserve a brand's objectives, context and guardrails as campaigns move from planning to execution. The platform uses the AdCP open protocol to allow agents on the buying and selling sides to communicate directly.

Apostra connects advertisers and media companies

Apostra allows advertisers to define campaign objectives, audiences, budgets and brand guardrails in a brief. Media companies can provide information about their offerings, audiences and advertising environments.

The platform then connects the two sides, allowing advertisers and their agents to discover opportunities across different media formats and markets.

Agent-led advertising across media formats

The platform is designed to allow agents to evaluate advertising opportunities based on factors including audience, environment, context, creative possibilities, data and value, rather than reducing each opportunity to a standardised advertising unit.

Advertisers can also establish budgets, exclusions and approval thresholds that determine which actions an agent can take independently and which require human approval.

The company says this approach is intended to help advertisers identify opportunities beyond familiar media placements, including podcasts, billboards, publisher partnerships and sponsorships.

Media companies can expose more inventory

Apostra also provides media companies with tools to present their offerings to advertisers and their agents. Businesses can create a storefront containing information about their products, audiences, environments, pricing, packaging and operating rules.

When an advertiser submits a brief, a media company's agent can assess the objectives and propose relevant opportunities. These can include existing formats, combinations of media, sponsorships or bespoke partnerships.

Building on the AdCP protocol

Apostra is built on AdCP, an open protocol that allows advertising agents to communicate with one another. The company says this enables agents to exchange more context between advertisers and media companies rather than routing every opportunity through a common set of advertising formats.

The approach is intended to give advertisers greater visibility into media opportunities while allowing media companies to surface offerings that buyers might not otherwise consider.

A new direction for advertising

The Apostra name comes from apostrophē, a Greek term referring to a turn away from an expected address toward a direct audience.

The company positions the rebrand as a shift in how advertising can be assembled, with agents connecting brands and media companies while people retain control over budgets, approvals, pricing, packaging and relationships.
