Ocean Outdoor wins Glasgow banner contract

Property developer and investment firm, Lujo Properties, has appointed Ocean Outdoor to operate a large format advertising banner in central Glasgow, strengthening the media owner’s footprint in the UK’s busiest shopping city outside London.

The St Vincent Place Banner measures 20 metres by 10 metres and spans the façade of the former Clydesdale Bank headquarters, which is undergoing redevelopment.

Positioned where Buchanan Street meets St Vincent Place and close to Buchanan Galleries, the illuminated site is expected to deliver 462,440 impacts per fortnight.

Universal Pictures first to run campaign

Universal Pictures is the launch advertiser, using the canvas to promote the UK release of Wicked: For Good, booked for a two-week campaign through WPP OOH and EssenceMediacom. The banner complements Ocean’s existing large format screens at Glasgow Central and St Enoch’s and has been consistently booked in the run-up to the Christmas period, signalling strong market demand.

Alastair Dickie, Board and Non Executive Director, Lujo Properties: "We are delighted to be working with Ocean, who we know and have worked with historically and are looking forward to a successful marketing period with them at this super prime location. We are redeveloping the former Virgin Bank (Clydesdale HQ) for a major UK restaurant operator, with details to be released in early course, which will enhance the location and destination further."

Ocean expands its large-format offer in Scotland

According to Route/ Ipsos, Ocean is Scotland’s leading provider of large format Digital Out of Home, with a network of 48 city-centre and roadside screens and banners in Glasgow. The addition of St Vincent Place Banner extends the company’s portfolio in a high-traffic zone frequented by commuters, shoppers, students and tourists.

Marc Keenan, managing director, Ocean Outdoor Scotland: "With sales and footfall on the rise, Glasgow maintains its position as the UK’s biggest shopping city outside of London. The addition of St Vincent Place banner to our portfolio gives advertisers another opportunity to reach commuters, shoppers, students and tourists with an annual £1.3bn potential spend. Our continued investment in quality formats in the best locations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Scotland’s other top cities reinforces our position as the No.1 provider of Out of Home in high traffic, high footfall locations."

Glasgow’s retail and visitor economy underpins demand

Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city, with the population rising one-third over the past decade to reach 1.7 million in the greater metropolitan area. The city also attracts 32 million visitors each year, contributing to its strong retail environment and supporting advertiser interest in high-visibility OOH formats.
