Ocean Outdoor secures Leicester Square DOOH contract

The appointment further strengthens Ocean Outdoor's position in central London

Ocean Outdoor has secured a long-term contract with Soho Estates to manage the property company's digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising assets in London's Leicester Square following a competitive tender process.

The agreement includes the installation of a curved LED wall alongside two existing portrait-format LED screens, creating a combined digital advertising landmark that will form part of the ongoing regeneration of Leicester Square.

New digital screen planned for summer installation

The curved LED wall will measure 166 square metres and, together with the existing screens, will provide a total display area of 240 square metres. Installation is scheduled for this summer.

Positioned along the main pedestrian route between Leicester Square Underground station and the square itself, the screen will be visible from several high-traffic locations, including routes connecting Piccadilly and Covent Garden. The display will be integrated into the building's facade behind bespoke curved glazing.

Addition strengthens West End portfolio

The site, known as The Curve, is one of only two commercial advertising opportunities in Leicester Square. The second is owned by Vue Cinema. Both sites are now managed by Ocean Outdoor as part of its West End portfolio.

The portfolio also includes the Piccadilly Lights and a large-format screen in Carnaby Street, extending Ocean's presence across some of London's busiest entertainment and retail districts.

Screen designed for cultural and community events

In recognition of Leicester Square's heritage and role as an entertainment destination, the screen will support full-motion advertising and 3D DeepScreen content for selected events, including film premieres, cultural celebrations, community initiatives and charity campaigns.

Leicester Square hosts more than 50 film premieres each year and attracts more than 2.5 million visitors each week. Annual footfall through Leicester Square Underground station exceeds 40 million entries and exits.

Long-term investment in Leicester Square

Nick Lawson, head of investment and development, Soho Estates: "Leicester Square has been the heart of London’s entertainment district for more than a century. This investment will ensure it remains at the forefront of global media and cultural events, while providing a significant community benefit as a valuable platform for charities, artists and local community organisations."

The history of illuminated advertising in Leicester Square dates back to 1904, contributing to its status as one of London's most recognisable cultural destinations.

Ocean highlights audience opportunity

Nick Shaw, CEO, Ocean Outdoor UK: "Our new partnership with Soho Estates is a superb addition to our West End DOOH portfolio. Leicester Square gives brands access to a lucrative vibrant global audience in a world famous cultural and visitor attraction, just a few minutes from Mayfair, Carnaby Street and Soho, some the city’s premium retail districts."

The appointment further strengthens Ocean Outdoor's position in central London as advertisers continue to seek high-profile digital locations capable of reaching large domestic and international audiences.
