Nike is the world’s strongest apparel brand, report

Nike has been named the strongest apparel brand in the world, according to Brand Finance’s Apparel 50 2025 report. The U.S. sportswear giant achieved a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 94.7 out of 100, making it not only the apparel sector leader but also the second strongest brand globally across all categories.

Brand Finance’s research highlights Nike’s consistently high performance across brand strength metrics, particularly in price acceptance across key markets such as France, Italy, Sweden, South Africa and Malaysia. The findings underscore Nike’s ability to sustain a strong value perception and cultural relevance worldwide.

Chanel surpasses Louis Vuitton in brand value

While Nike dominates in brand strength, Chanel has overtaken Louis Vuitton to become the world’s most valuable apparel brand, following a 45% rise in brand value to USD 37.9 billion. This surge positions Chanel as the second fastest-growing apparel brand of the year.

The report also highlights the dominance of French luxury houses, with just nine French brands contributing USD 135.6 billion—37% of the ranking’s total value.

Annie Brown, Valuation Director, Brand Finance: “Even though the U.S. contributes the highest number of brands in the Apparel 50 2025 ranking at 12, just nine French brands generate almost double the total value of their U.S. counterparts. This strength is closely tied to France’s enduring legacy in luxury apparel and the role of tourism as a powerful market driver. As one of Europe’s most visited destinations, and with the momentum of the 2024 Olympic Games, France continues to attract international shoppers who value purchasing from brands in their country of origin. French luxury apparel brands are capitalising on this demand with strategic expansions that reinforce their global position, driving both brand value and brand strength.”

Sportswear brands accelerate growth

Reebok has emerged as the fastest-growing apparel brand in 2025, with its brand value rising 79% to USD 1.7 billion. According to Brand Finance, this growth has been boosted by high-profile campaigns, including its “Sport is Everything” platform featuring athletes Angel Reese, Justin Fields and Suryakumar Yadav. Adidas and New Balance also rank among the top 10 fastest-growing apparel brands this year.

Chinese down apparel brand Bosideng is identified as a “brand to watch.” Valued at USD 2.1 billion, Bosideng ranks 45th overall and has more than doubled its brand value since 2019. With a BSI score of 81.1 and an AAA- brand rating, the company continues to strengthen its global presence through innovation, cultural engagement and long-term strategic positioning.
