Nielsen shifts Streaming Content Ratings to daily data
The change gives clients access to streaming viewership data sooner, with the aim of supporting faster decisions in a competitive media market.
Nielsen has accelerated the delivery of its Streaming Content Ratings (SCR), moving from weekly reporting to a daily cadence.
Under the updated system, Nielsen says SCR data delivery times have been reduced by up to 80 percent. Clients will receive data each business day covering viewing that took place two days earlier, bringing the reporting cadence closer to that of linear television.
Nielsen moves Streaming Content Ratings to daily reporting
Brian Fuhrer, Senior Vice President, Product Strategy and Thought Leadership, Nielsen: “While Nielsen has made a number of material improvements to streaming measurement over the years that have broadened and deepened platform and program coverage, this may be the most significant enhancement to Streaming Content Ratings since its launch in 2017. As the speed of change across the media landscape increases, providing our clients with more immediate, up-to-date audience data helps them keep pace with the consumer.”
The updated delivery schedule also applies to Nielsen's weekly Streaming Top 10 reports. The company is cutting the reporting delay for the rankings in half, with the first accelerated report scheduled for September 17, 2026.
Streaming Top 10 reports to arrive faster
The first accelerated Streaming Top 10 will cover the measurement period from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The rankings are among Nielsen's industry benchmarks for streaming audience measurement, alongside The Gauge.
The changes form part of Nielsen's broader development of its audience measurement products across television and streaming. The company has expanded its National TV measurement capabilities, including co-viewing insights, and introduced Big Data + Panel measurement across the marketplace in 2025.

Nielsen has also incorporated first-party data integrations into its live streaming measurement and expanded out-of-home measurement to cover the entire United States.
The company continues to provide audience measurement across streaming, linear television and out-of-home viewing, with products including Streaming Content Ratings, The Gauge and the weekly Streaming Top 10.
