Nielsen launches blueprint to maximize marketing impact

Nielsen has released The Marketing ROI Blueprint: Unlocking the full value of marketing investments, a report offering a practical guide for brand and media leaders seeking to demonstrate tangible business impact in an increasingly fragmented media landscape.

As marketers face tighter budgets and a growing mix of media channels, the report highlights three key priorities for driving measurable outcomes: focusing on business results rather than delivery metrics, integrating cross-media measurement to close data gaps, and linking creative performance directly to sales and brand growth. The framework aims to help brands unify their data, optimize spend, and achieve greater accountability across campaigns.

The report reveals that 38 percent of marketers now prioritize sales or ROI as their primary metric for success, signaling a clear shift toward performance-based measurement. However, while 85 percent express confidence in their ability to measure ROI, only 32 percent apply consistent measurement across both traditional and digital media. This indicates a significant opportunity for brands to improve cross-channel evaluation.

Additionally, 27 percent of marketers continue to measure sponsorship separately, limiting their understanding of its broader contribution. Meanwhile, 60 percent now incorporate both reach and ROI into their cross-media strategies, demonstrating a move toward more holistic performance assessment.

Nielsen’s findings also emphasize the growing importance of creative evaluation. More marketers are using brand lift and sales lift analyses to connect creative elements to concrete business outcomes, helping optimize performance and validate investment effectiveness.

The report encourages marketers to adopt unified, data-driven strategies that enable smarter budget allocation, greater agility, and stronger campaign results across channels.
