Monks expands EMEA strategy practice

The appointments are part of Monks’ focus on helping brands respond to shifts in culture and consumer behavior

Monks is expanding its EMEA strategy practice with the appointments of Darren Savage as Group Strategy Director and Martín Bordoy as Strategy Director. The hires strengthen the agency’s upstream strategy capabilities as it works with enterprise clients on brand positioning, cultural insight and creative direction.

The appointments are part of Monks’ focus on helping brands respond to shifts in culture and consumer behavior while using AI-enabled workflows to execute strategies at scale.

Monks strengthens strategy capabilities in EMEA

Savage and Bordoy will support complex enterprise opportunities across Monks’ EMEA network. Their work will focus on combining brand strategy, cultural insight and creativity with the agency’s technology capabilities.

Monks uses its proprietary AI orchestration platform, Monks.Flow, to support the execution of multi-dimensional strategies. The agency positions the technology as an operational layer that enables teams to scale work while retaining a focus on human creativity and consumer connection.

Leadership appointments support Real-Time Brands

Alex Oberberg, Chief Revenue Officer, EMEA, Monks: "In an always-on digital ecosystem, modern brands demand strategic conviction, cultural relevance, and human taste at the very start of the process. Leaders like Darren and Martín ensure our client relationships begin with category-defining strategy and creative vision. Our technology then provides the operational engine to bring that vision to life at scale, without defaulting to generic, automated output."

Savage brings 30 years of experience in brand, product and innovation strategy, with work across London and New York. His client portfolio includes Nike, Apple, Audi, Volkswagen, PlayStation and the BBC. His work has received a Cannes Grand Prix, a D&AD Black Pencil and a Webby Grand Prix. He also teaches at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School and is a Teaching Fellow at the University of Lancaster.

Bordoy brings cross-market brand experience

Bordoy has 17 years of experience in brand positioning and cultural insight across Europe and Latin America. He previously worked at global strategy boutique BMC (Business Meets Culture) and held roles at agency networks, advising global brands on brand architecture and growth strategies.

His client experience includes The Coca-Cola Company, Heineken, Bacardi, Unilever, Google and Toyota. His work focuses on translating cultural shifts into business growth strategies.

Strategy to support regional client growth

As part of Monks’ EMEA network, Savage and Bordoy will help develop and scale strategic frameworks across European hubs. Their roles will bring brand positioning, media strategy and technology orchestration together within the agency’s operating model.

The appointments are intended to support enterprise clients seeking to build long-term brand equity while responding to audience and cultural changes in real time.
