[Marketing Week] Bob Koigi: Brands that evolve with culture will define the future
In an increasingly connected world, consumers are no longer passive recipients of brand messages. With social media, global connectivity, and an ever-evolving cultural landscape, they are active participants in shaping brand narratives. Today, consumers expect more than just products, they demand values, experiences, and connections that align with their beliefs, interests, and identities.
Brands that tap into cultural insights are not just building campaigns, they are creating lasting connections with their audience, fostering loyalty, and driving lasting growth. It's about understanding the cultural undercurrents that influence consumer behavior and responding with authenticity, empathy, and relevance.
In the end, brands that evolve with culture, not merely react to it, are the ones that will define the future.
When Publicis Groupe announced the launch of creative agency LePub in 2020, the idea was to transform how brands communicate through deep cultural insight and creativity. This would later lead to the unveiling of the Data & Culture Lab, the proprietary intelligence hub that deciphers culture in real time, helping brands stay ahead in an ever-changing world.
Now, the agency is taking innovation further with the LeGarage—the new capability built to Invent Culture Forward. The hub is targeting tech enthusiasts, innovators, and culture-driven thinkers by not just engaging with technology but developing and reshaping it.
Elsewhere, following the successful launch of Cultural Power in December to the UK and Australia markets, the newly branded M+C Saatchi Group is now taking its strategic proposition global with the official unveiling of the Cultural Power Index - an AI-powered diagnostic tool that helps brands drive growth by harnessing the power of culture.
This, as Ogilvy PR recently became among the first creative agency networks to secure TikTok marketing partner badge. The agency noted that commitment to its clients is not to react at the speed of culture, but to help their brands land in culture. Recognizing where culture happens is paramount, and today TikTok isn't just a platform; it's a cultural pulse point—a vital force within the creator economy, turning creativity and joy into powerful connections, the global CEO, Julianna Richter affirmed.
According to research by Kantar, brands with strong cultural relevance grow six times faster than those with low cultural engagement.
