Global and BT roll out upgraded digital Street Hubs across the UK
Global, the Media & Entertainment Group, has partnered with BT to begin a nationwide rollout of upgraded digital Street Hub units, designed to enhance high streets, boost public connectivity, and expand outdoor advertising opportunities.
The new generation of Street Hubs combines advanced technology with sleek design, providing valuable services to local communities while creating new opportunities for advertisers.
The rollout builds on the success of earlier units introduced in 2017. Each hub features high-quality, motion-capable digital screens that can display both national and local advertising, as well as community messages and emergency alerts. The initiative represents a long-term investment in UK towns and cities, with up to 2,000 new units planned over the next decade.
Street Hubs connect communities and advertisers
Chris Forrester, Managing Director, Commercial Outdoor, Global: “Our next-generation, sustainable Street Hubs set a new standard for roadside digital outdoor advertising and mark a bold leap forward for the industry, connecting brands and communities up and down the country in more impactful ways. They offer standout visibility thanks to bigger, brighter, high-quality screens, delivering a lasting impression. Our growing Street Hub network unlocks new opportunities for national and local advertisers, expanding reach throughout cities and towns across the UK.”
The partnership between BT and Global reflects their shared commitment to revitalising local economies through digital infrastructure. The new hubs provide advertisers with expanded reach while offering practical community benefits.
Technology designed to support local communities
The Street Hubs include ultrafast public Wi-Fi, emergency call buttons, and rapid charging points, with the option to integrate mobile connectivity boosters. Built from recycled and recyclable materials, they can also house air quality, light, and sound sensors to deliver real-time environmental data for councils and community planners.
Thea Sztejka, Managing Director, BT Wholesale: “Digital connectivity is now a must-have for communities and high streets across the UK, and our new Street Hub units allow us to deliver that where it is needed most. The hubs are already delivering benefits to many of our towns and cities, and these upgraded units will allow us to provide even more locations with future-proofed technology for years to come.”
The rollout underscores the growing role of digital infrastructure in shaping smarter, more connected urban spaces, while offering brands a high-impact medium at the heart of local life.
