Glance expands TV analytics
The report found that global television viewing averaged 2 hours and 13 minutes per day in 2025, a decline of five minutes compared with the previous year.
Glance has released the 2026 edition of its One TV Year in the World Edition report, combining audience viewing figures for live television, broadcast video on demand (BVOD) and streaming platforms across more than 100 territories.
The report is available through the OneGlance platform in an interactive digital dashboard, allowing users to explore viewing trends across countries, markets and time periods.
Global viewing declines slightly
The report found that global television viewing averaged 2 hours and 13 minutes per day in 2025, a decline of five minutes compared with the previous year.
Scripted programming remained the most-watched genre worldwide. In the United States, Watson and Tracker were the leading scripted series, while in the United Kingdom Call the Midwife and Gavin & Stacey: A Fond Farewell topped the rankings. Local productions accounted for 70 per cent of the highest-performing scripted programmes.
Entertainment and live events attract audiences
Entertainment ranked as the second most popular genre globally, with reality competitions making up 48 per cent of entertainment programming. Long-running formats continued to perform strongly across international markets, with Dancing with the Stars ranking first in 10 countries and The Masked Singer appearing among the leading entertainment programmes in nine markets.

Live events, game shows and political programming also attracted significant audiences. In the United States, the Super Bowl reached a record audience of 130 million viewers, an increase of 8 per cent compared with 2024, following the addition of streaming platform Tubi as a broadcaster.
The report also found that news viewing increased across Europe, with news channels gaining 0.6 percentage points of market share amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty.
Dashboard expands video consumption insights
A feature introduced in this year's edition is the Total Video section, which measures the share of viewing across streaming platforms and television broadcasters by country. The report also includes downloadable information detailing BVOD data availability across individual markets.
Frédéric Vaulpré, Senior Vice President, Glance: "Television viewing worldwide continues to be strong and is evolving rapidly, and we've reflected this in the way we now share insight about it. With this edition of our annual report, we wanted to give our clients not just the most comprehensive report on global TV viewing trends, but a platform that makes that data genuinely easy to explore and act on. The move to a fully interactive dashboard reflects our commitment to delivering intelligence that works harder for the people who rely on it."
