[eMarketer] Roku, Shopify partnership to increase access to CTV ad campaigns

Roku has announced plans to launch an app that allows Shopify sellers to develop and purchase TV ad campaigns. Roku would not share an exact launch date, but the app is expected to be released ahead of the holiday season.

According to eMarketer, a select group of brands are using the self-service tools in a limited pilot, including prebiotic soda brand Olipop, loungewear manufacturer Jambys, and bean bag company Moon Pod.

Ads from Shopify merchants will be slotted into 15- and 30-second spots primarily within The Roku Channel content.

Roku is the first to market with this particular offering aimed at small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and the competition for SMB dollars within the CTV ad space is not exactly intense.

This move comes amid Roku’s recent push to improve its own measurement capabilities.
