Dalziel & Pow reshape Pop-Up Crisis with 80s theme

Pop-Up Crisis, the annual designer pop-up shop and charity fundraiser supporting Crisis, has returned for its sixth edition with a vivid 1980s theme created in partnership with global strategy and design studio Dalziel & Pow. The event, which runs from 8–13 December on Savile Row, continues a fundraising effort that has generated more than £650,000 since 2018.

This year, The Pollen Estate is hosting the project at 18–19 Savile Row, where Dalziel & Pow have transformed an office interior into an immersive TV-inspired environment. The concept builds on last year’s social campaign, with the space reimagined as Pop-Up Crisis TV Studios, each area echoing a different slice of 80s broadcasting through retro signage, props, cameras, lighting rigs and playful on-air moments.

Immersive design recreates 80s television culture

The main retail room extends the backstage studio aesthetic, showcasing celebrity clothing collections identified by dressing-room plaques. A studio sign references 1980s show Treasure Hunt as a nod to the hidden finds on offer. The Crisis Re-generation Game reinterprets The Generation Game to highlight how Crisis gives donated items renewed purpose, while a Crisis-themed riff on the show’s refrain reinforces the message that a path out of homelessness can start with a single action.

Design elements also draw from classic TV canteens and green rooms, with touches inspired by Surprise, Surprise to create a convivial setting. Throughout the store, visitors encounter references to programmes such as Grange Hill and Ceefax woven into signage, costume pieces and product displays.

Celebrity edits and luxury donations support the cause

The fundraiser is backed by brands, celebrities and Savile Row tailors who contribute daily drops of clothing and special donations. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Naomie Harris, David Gandy, Jarvis Cocker, Louis Partridge, Jamie Redknapp and Emma Corrin are among those offering curated edits from their wardrobes or affiliated brands. Watches of Switzerland Group has also contributed a significant donation.

Music across the week comes from DJs including Geronimo and friends, Princess Julia, Bestley, T Priestly, Jonjo and Josh Quinton. A bespoke photo and interview backdrop styled after a broadcast test card has been created for this year’s Pop-Up Crisis TV social content.

Dalziel & Pow collaborated closely with Crisis and Pop-Up Crisis founder Anda Rowland to shape the experience.

Matt Avery, Creative Director, Dalziel & Pow: "Reimagining the space through the lens of 1980s television has been a real creative joy. The era's colour, confidence and sense of experimentation gave us a rich world to build from. We love using design to spark emotion and connection, especially at Christmas, and we're proud to help Crisis create a space that draws people in while championing such an important cause."

Raffle and contributions from Savile Row tailors

Higher-value donations, including a Bvlgari watch from Louis Partridge and a Balenciaga bag from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, will be offered as raffle prizes, with tickets priced at £10. Tailors such as Stephen Jones, Peter Ackroyd, Walid al Damirji and Rob Charnock are contributing cloth and trimmings, typically highly sought-after during the event’s Apprentice and Student Night on 11 December.

Kim Collins, Head of Retail and eCommerce, Crisis: "Pop-Up Crisis is one of the most important weeks in our retail calendar and we're incredibly grateful for what it raises to support people facing homelessness through the toughest months of the year, and beyond. Dalziel & Pow have helped to bring this year's concept to life in a way that adds a whole new energy to the event and gives people even more reason to visit and shop. Every purchase and donation made at Pop-Up Crisis helps us support more people on their journey out of homelessness."

Anda Rowland, Director at Anderson & Sheppard and Pop-Up Crisis founder: "Working with Dalziel & Pow has been a joy. Their retro TV studio creative has reimagined the space and brought a fresh, playful energy to Pop-Up Crisis, taking it to the next level. We wanted to create something people would genuinely want to experience – not just shop at – and this does exactly that. Savile Row will be buzzing all week, with incredible fashion, one-off donations and fun moments around every corner. We can't wait to welcome people in and see the impact this will have for Crisis this winter."
