CMO Marjan Straathof leaves DEPT after 11 years
Marjan Straathof is leaving DEPT. She has served as Global SVP of Marketing since November 2015, overseeing positioning, brand awareness, go-to-market, thought leadership, media relations, events and internal communications
She announced her departure on LinkedIn. Marjan Straathof joined TamTam, the agency founded by Paul and Bart Manuel in Delft in 1996, which became part of DEPT in 2016. Since then, 33 companies have joined the group. Bringing those acquisitions together under a single brand was, according to Straathof, the most challenging part of her work.
Marjan Straathof: “When I joined TamTam, we were around 150 people in the Netherlands. Today, there are more than 4,000 Depsters around the world. In between, 33 companies joined the story, and somehow we had to make all those people, founders, cultures, clients, offices and opinions feel like one. It was one of the hardest things I have worked on, but also one of the most rewarding. I am also saying goodbye to agency life and stepping down from the boards of SoDA and Dutch Digital Design.”
She will announce what she plans to do next at a later date
Before joining DEPT, Straathof was agency manager at industry association Dutch Digital Agencies and programme manager at Emerce, where she was involved in initiatives including the Dutch Interactive Awards. She was also part of the programme team for TEDxAmsterdam and served on the board of the Federation of Dutch Creative Industries.
DEPT has more than 4,000 employees across more than 30 offices on five continents. Dimi Albers has served as global CEO since 2019. Investor The Carlyle Group has held a stake in the agency since January 2020. The position to succeed Straathof is currently open.
