Clear Channel sells Spain unit to Atresmedia

Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings has reached an agreement to sell its operations in Spain to Atresmedia Corporación de Medios de Comunicación for EUR 115 million, approximately USD 135 million. The purchase price remains subject to customary adjustments.

The company expects to use the net proceeds, after transaction-related costs, to further reduce outstanding debt. The deal is expected to close by early 2026, pending regulatory approval.

Exit from European markets

Scott Wells, CEO, Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings: "This agreement to sell our business in Spain represents the final step toward completing our process to divest our European businesses. By monetizing our European and Latin American businesses, we have improved our balance sheet and sharpened our focus on growing our America and Airports segments. We want to thank our team for their dedication and hard work in helping the Company reach this incredible milestone."

The Spain divestment marks the conclusion of Clear Channel’s European exit, as the company concentrates its strategy on the United States and airport advertising markets.

Future under Atresmedia

Jordi Sáez Camacho, CEO, Clear Channel Spain: "I am deeply grateful to Clear Channel Outdoor for the journey we have shared, which allowed us to grow the Spanish out-of-home industry. Now, together with Atresmedia, the leading group in the Spanish audiovisual and entertainment sector, we begin an exciting new chapter where we will join forces to innovate, create new opportunities and take OOH further than ever before, for the benefit of our clients, our team and the entire industry."

Atresmedia, a major player in Spain’s media and entertainment sector, will integrate the out-of-home operations into its portfolio, expanding its presence in the advertising market.

Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings engaged Moelis & Company and Deutsche Bank Securities as financial advisors for the sale of its Spanish business. To limit currency risks, the company will hedge the anticipated proceeds.
