Bling acquires Hamburg-based startup Finste to promote financial literacy among teens and young adults

Berlin-based Bling, Germany's banking app for families, has acquired Hamburg-based startup Finstep, to expand its own educational offerings with in-depth, didactically high-quality learning content. The acquisition is a logical step toward making financial education an integral part of everyday family life with professionally prepared learning content.

Founded in 2022, Finstep quickly established itself as a popular learning app for teens and young adults with over a hundred interactive missions on topics such as inflation, investing, and taxes. Tested through collaborations with banks, discussions with educators, and 30,000 young users, the content imparts financial knowledge in a way that's relevant to everyday life, age-appropriate, and playful - an approach that fits perfectly into the existing Bling ecosystem.

The integration takes place directly within the Bling app, which has already been downloaded more than 1 million times. For the more than 250,000 family members who already regularly use the Bling app in their daily family life, this means they have access to structured learning modules that guide them step by step toward financial responsibility. Parents, in turn, benefit from practical support when it comes to teaching basic financial skills – without having to be financial experts themselves.

Nils Feigenwinter, Managing Director and Co-founder, Bling: "With Bling's pocket money card and app, children and young people are already learning how to handle money very effectively. Finstep's content will therefore fit perfectly into our app and help make young people in Germany financially wise."

Christian Binder, Founder and Managing Director, Finstep: "With the integration into Bling, we are seamlessly continuing our mission to strengthen young people's financial literacy – strengthened by the reach and platform that Bling has built. Finstep and Bling are two pieces of the puzzle that fit together very well."

Finstep will temporarily discontinue operations of the Finstep app. The digital assets and content will be gradually transferred to the Bling app – with the goal of providing a holistic, high-quality educational offering for families in Germany.
