Automotive leaders form council for streaming ad standards
A coalition of media, technology, and data companies has launched the Automotive Streaming Council (ASC), a self-regulatory body designed to improve standards and transparency in streaming advertising for the automotive sector.
The ASC will act as a collaborative forum for tackling challenges such as inconsistent measurement, unclear attribution, fragmented ad experiences, and concerns around data use and fraud. The council’s members aim to set shared principles that encourage ethical practices, responsible innovation, and stronger performance outcomes for advertisers.
Founding members bring diverse expertise
The council’s founding members include EMG, Experian, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Polk | S&P Global Mobility, Roku, Spotify, The Trade Desk, and Tubi. Each company was selected for its leadership in streaming and its commitment to ethical and results-driven advertising.
Brian Singleton, Founder and CEO, EMG: "Streaming is now essential for dealerships, but inconsistent standards and a lack of transparency create confusion in the marketplace. The Automotive Streaming Council is a proactive step toward aligning the industry around principles that protect buyers, foster collaboration, and unlock streaming's full potential as a performance-driven channel."
Driving responsible growth
The ASC’s mission is to promote integrity, transparency, and effectiveness in automotive streaming advertising. It will focus on:
Establishing standards for measurement, attribution, creative quality, and consumer privacy.
Providing education and research to guide buyers and sellers in the evolving streaming market.
Supporting collaboration between publishers, platforms, agencies, and dealerships.
The council will hold its inaugural meeting in October 2025 during EMG’s annual Streaming Automotive Summit. The gathering will outline next steps toward building consistent practices for streaming campaigns in the automotive industry.
