Amsterdam-based Contentoo raises €5m to scale its content marketing platform in Europe

Contentoo, the platform for content creation and localization, has raised €5 million investment round, to scale its platform in Europe. The platform has a growing pool of several thousand freelance copywriters, translators and content marketing strategists around the world

Contentoo currently records a revenue growth of 107 percent compared to 2021 (YoY). Growth is not only exponential in the Netherlands. Contentoo has also quadrupled in size on the German market.

Onno Halsema , CEO, Contentoo: "The European expansion will be continued with the new funding. We see a great need for Contentoo's services at companies that focus on content marketing and internationalization."

Entrepreneurial financing

Sophie Heijenberg , investor at No Such Ventures: "Contentoo shows that it has a strong product within the content marketing niche that also appeals internationally. Contentoo's drive, team and vision fit well with No Such Ventures."

More than thirty investors are involved in the Contentoo investment round through No Such Ventures. Among them are the entrepreneurs Perry Oostdam and Pawel Smoczyk, co-founders of hiring software tool Recruitee. Jeroen Verberg, founder of Hippo, bought by Bloomreach, also belongs to this group. Hugo Mensink and Lotte van Ditshuizen of Amsterdam Corporate Finance assisted Contentoo in this transaction.

Flexible and efficient marketing

Onno Halsema: "What appeals to us in the investment strategy of No Such Ventures is the active, supporting role. They know the dynamics of a fast-growing, international scale-up in this sector. This investment once again confirms that we are on the right track with Contentoo The European content market is growing fast. The forecast is that the market will be good for 140 billion euros in 2024." 

Content increasingly important for growth

Onno Halsema: "We see that the market for content creation is extremely important for companies to be successful. For SEO, for content marketing, but especially for entering new foreign markets. Through our platform we link organizations to freelance copywriters and translators with expertise of the local market. They work remotely, but operate as in-house employees. Companies want quality, but also flexibility and an efficient workflow. So we operate as a platform, but with the service of an agency. This makes organizations end-to-end -end in the field of content marketing."

Artificial intelligence and human decision making

Contentoo also focuses on artificial intelligence. Onno Halsema: "AI is used on our platform to match freelancers to customers, to create better briefings and to speed up work processes. Customers can also have simple texts such as listings for housing websites or product texts generated by AI. However, we believe that freelancers are still indispensable help create more intricate and creative content."
