Aachen-based cleantech startup Voltfang secures €8m to accelerate growth in green storage capacities

Aachen-based cleantech startup Voltfang, has secured €8 million Series A funding, including €800k in secured grants. The oversubscribed financing round was led by the Dutch deeptech VC investor FORWARD.One, followed by Interzero. Previous investors such as PT1, AENU, Helen Ventures, Daphni, Aurum Impact (Goldbeck family office) and Maximilian Viessmann participated again.

The aim is to use the financing to expand the product portfolio and maximize the performance of its battery storage systems through the further development of the advanced energy management system, the 24/7 live software solution for optimized energy supply. This will enable Voltfang to increase its market leadership in both industrial and grid-connected applications and further strengthen the company's market position as a pioneer in green energy infrastructure and the circular economy.

David Oudsandji, CEO and Co-founder, Voltfan: "We are very pleased to have two partners on board, FORWARD.One and Interzero, who not only bring financial commitment but also a deep understanding of our vision and the energy sector. FORWARD.One's focus on hardware and climate tech and Interzero's know-how in the circular economy are a perfect fit with our goals. The respective expertise of our new investors will be invaluable in continuing to innovate and lead in the field of sustainable energy storage."

Beau-Anne Chilla, Partner, FORWARD.one: "Voltfang's green and efficient energy storage solution fits perfectly into the FORWARD.one portfolio. Our focus is on supporting hardware and software companies that are working on solutions to important societal challenges. We see Voltfang's batteries as an essential component of the European energy transition and to strengthening Europe's resource independence. We are pleased to support Voltfang's growth and success with this partnership."

Interzero's investment in Voltfang is in line with its vision of a "world without waste", which highlights reuse, sustainability and second-life concepts as crucial components on the path to zero-waste. Interzero, which will invest through its shareholders' family office, offers Voltfang not only know-how in the circular economy field, but also access to a broad network in the circular economy field, which will support Voltfang's strong growth prospects.

Fabian Heilemann, Founder and CEO, AENU: "The European power grid is overloaded by the rapid expansion of renewable energies and is reaching its limits. Building additional transmission capacity takes time and costs billions. The simplest and fastest solution is to expand storage capacity, which at the same time helps to stabilize the grids. This is precisely why we are investing in companies like Voltfang, which can scale and deliver high-performance and environmentally friendly storage solutions "Made in Europe".

Gerrit Janke, CFO, Voltfang: "We are also pleased with the commitment of existing investors, some of whom have increased their stake in this financing round. This is a strong signal of confidence in our strategy and our team. We managed to complete the financing round in just three months, and in a challenging market environment."

Voltfang's storage systems are built from requalified electric vehicle batteries and offer a sustainable solution to the growing needs of the energy sector. These systems help optimize energy use, reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources and manage peak loads more effectively. The company plans to deliver an additional 40 MWh of battery capacity by the end of 2025.
