Mike Gordon to leave Global CCO role in 2027

He will remain on Global’s Board and become Executive Advisor to Group CEO Simon Pitts once his successor is appointed.

Global has announced that Chief Commercial Officer Mike Gordon will step down from the role in 2027 after 18 years with the media and entertainment group.

Gordon joined Global in 2008 alongside founder and Executive President Ashley Tabor-King CBE and then Group CEO, now Chair, Stephen Miron. Gordon and Miron started on the same day and were part of the team behind Global’s commercial expansion in radio.

During Gordon’s tenure, Global expanded its commercial activities across audio, outdoor advertising, digital advertising and content. Developments have included the launch of DAX, the acquisition of three outdoor companies, the retention of major outdoor advertising contracts including Transport for London, and the creation of Global Studios.

The group has also expanded its content business through the acquisition of The Fellas Studios and The Overlap, established long-term event sponsorships including the Summertime and Jingle Bell Balls, and introduced video sales on YouTube.

Global outlines Mike Gordon’s next role

Simon Pitts, Group CEO, Global: “Mike’s legacy at Global is nothing short of remarkable – not simply the scale of the commercial business we have today but also the incredible team he has built. In his time at Global Mike has delivered billions in revenues, disrupted the market with new advertising models and innovated with market-leading partnerships, gaining the universal respect and acclaim of his colleagues and industry peers along the way.

“He has overseen continuous commercial growth in Global’s Audio, Outdoor, DAX and now podcast businesses, constantly surpassing expectations with market-defining brands including Capital, Heart and LBC, alongside one of the UK’s fastest-growing entertainment apps, Global Player, a slate of award-winning and chart-topping podcasts, as well as outdoor brands like TfL, BT Street Hub and, most recently, Billboards by Global.

“Everyone at Global is immensely grateful for everything Mike has achieved and delighted he will remain in the Global family, and on the Global Board.”

Ashley Tabor-King CBE, Founder & Executive President of Global: “Mike has been an enormous part of Global over the last 18 years, driving incredible revenue growth. Mike has always instinctively understood Global’s product roadmap from the inside, which has enabled him to devise the best way to present that to clients to achieve true buy-in to our strategy, creating true and lasting commercial partnerships. From the very beginning, Mike was part of the small team that helped to take Global’s vision and turn it into reality. He is the engine that transformed Global commercially into the success that the company is today, and I am eternally grateful for everything he has done over the last 18 years, and delighted he’ll remain on the Board and as an Advisor to Simon. Thank you Mike, onto the next chapter!”

Mike Gordon: “I started on the same day as Stephen Miron and I’ve been grateful for every moment at this very special company.

“Many of my top team have been on this journey with me, and I genuinely believe we have the best commercial team in the business.

“It goes without saying that I’m absolutely delighted to still be a part of Global’s future – after 18 years it still feels full of energy, we’re constantly innovating, never standing still and there is so much more to come.”

Stephen Miron, Chair, Global: “Mike should be immensely proud of all he’s achieved at Global over the last 18 years. So much of Global’s commercial success can be attributed to Mike and the team he’s built. His dedication and commitment to the company has never diminished and it was a privilege to have been side by side with Mike all these years and I am delighted that he’s agreed to continue to remain part of the Global family.”
