Hearts & Science appoints David Counsell as CIO

Hearts & Science UK has appointed David Counsell as Chief Investment Officer, strengthening its senior leadership team as the agency pursues further growth and expands its media investment capabilities.

Counsell joins the Omnicom Media agency's seven-member senior leadership team and will report directly to CEO Garrett O'Reilly. His appointment is intended to support both client retention and new business development.

Investment strategy focus

In his new role, Counsell will lead Hearts & Science's media investment offering, with responsibility for strengthening the agency's outcome-led investment strategy.

His remit includes integrating investment thinking more closely across strategy, planning and activation, ensuring media investment decisions are aligned with clients' commercial objectives and growth ambitions.

Driving partnerships and innovation

Counsell will also oversee the development of partnerships with media owners and technology companies. The agency says a key focus will be identifying opportunities through the more effective use of data and collaborative commercial models.

The appointment forms part of Hearts & Science's wider effort to enhance its integrated client offering and deliver measurable business outcomes through media investment.

Extensive investment leadership experience

Counsell joins Hearts & Science with senior experience across investment, trading and commercial leadership roles. His previous positions include leadership roles at Manning Gottlieb OMD and the7stars.

Most recently, he served as Head of Investment at OmniGOV, Manning Gottlieb OMD's specialist unit responsible for media investment on behalf of public sector clients.
