Flemish broadcasters announce support for Ukraine in new campaign

Flemish broadcasters have announced a new campaign to support Ukraine and its people. Not a day goes by without Flemish people seeing and hearing heartbreaking stories about how the Ukrainian population has been badly affected by the war in their country. Many people have been deeply touched by this; many also want to help. Last week, VRT, DPG Media, SBS and Mediahuis all put their shoulders to the wheel for the widely distributed spot campaign for Consortium 12-12. Now the broadcasters want to strengthen the strong living solidarity even more.

They will do so on March 17 with a joint TV show on Eén, VTM and Play4, which will be presented by Danira Boukhriss Terkessidis, Koen Wauters and James Cooke. There will also be 14 hours of live radio dedicated to Ukraine. From 6 am to 9 pm there is Ukraine 12-12 at Radio 2, MNM, Studio Brussel, Qmusic, Joe and Nostalgie. With this day full of solidarity, VRT, DPG Media, SBS and Mediahuis want to support the inhabitants of Ukraine and collect as much money as possible to help them through the aid organizations united in Consortium 12-12.

Joint response from the managements of VRT, DPG Media, SBS and Mediahuis: “We are also very affected by what is happening to the people in Ukraine. At the same time, we see many heartwarming initiatives emerging in our country. People spontaneously offer help, while the first Ukrainian refugees are now being housed by Flemish people. We want to support and strengthen this wave of solidarity from our media groups. On March 17th we will share stories and actions on 6 radio stations all day long and in the evening we will bring everyone together with an immersive live show on Eén, VTM and Play4. With Ukraine 12-12 we are boundless in solidarity with Ukraine.”

On behalf of the Flemish Government, Minister of the media Benjamin Dalle is delighted with the initiative: "It is heartwarming that the major media groups are once again joining forces for the victims in Ukraine. It is very much alive in Flanders and Brussels. This shows that our media players show solidarity can work together and feel what is going on in society."

Behind the scenes of VRT, DPG Media, SBS and Mediahuis, enthusiastic employees are already working to put together this compelling offer.
