BWZ Media Appoints COO ahead of further expansion plans

Vancouver based media technology company Black + White Zebra (BWZ), has announced that it has appointed industry veteran Philip Gray to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Gray will support BWZ’s expansion plans and provide operational strength and excellence to the rapidly growing business. Gray joins BWZ’s Executive Leadership Team, and reports into BWZ Founder and CEO, Ben Aston.

Gray brings over a decade of tech startup leadership and operational experience to the role following his most recent position as VP Operations, at Vancouver headquartered Thinkific, and a senior position at Procurify. In addition, BWZ recently hired Joe McGauley as Managing Editor, following senior editorial roles at Group Nine Media and Thrillist, further bolstering the company’s editorial expertise, and Executive Leadership strength.

Ben Aston, Founder & CEO, BWZ: “The BWZ business has experienced phenomenal growth and success to date as we’ve helped millions of people navigate the evolving world of work through compelling content that is also highly optimised, and effective, for our advertising partners. We have big ambitions for the future, and we’re excited to benefit from Philip’s deep operational expertise as we enter the company’s next stage of growth.”

Just last month, Black and White Zebra (BWZ), announced the acquisition of London, UK, based SaaS lead-generation company Crozdesk, with its newly launched vendor platform SoftwareSelect. BWZ acquired its lead generation technology for SaaS companies and enabled them to further provide more comprehensive software recommendations for its users.

Philip Gray, COO, BWZ: “I’m thrilled to join BWZ at this exciting time in its journey. Ben and the team have built an incredibly valuable business, and I’m looking forward to further strengthening the company and supporting the team as BWZ continues on its exciting trajectory. The world of work has changed significantly over the last few years, and BWZ is at the forefront of providing individuals and businesses with the knowledge, skills, community and tools to effectively navigate and succeed during this time of change.”

BWZ is the parent company for a number of major online publications that aim to provide people with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed professionally. BWZ achieves millions of unique website visitors per month, and generates millions of leads every year for SaaS companies including Monday.com, ClickUp and SmartSheet.
