Visa deepens support for creator economy with new financial tools

Visa has reinforced its commitment to digital creators, outlining plans to give them greater access to the financial tools and infrastructure commonly available to small businesses. The company aims to help creators pay and get paid securely, access capital and grow their ventures by leveraging its global network.

These ambitions are detailed in Monetized: Visa 2025 Creator Report, a study conducted with Morning Consult across the United States, Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. The research surveyed more than 1,000 TikTok creators between May and August 2025, highlighting the business needs and opportunities shaping the creator economy.

Creators build momentum as small-business entrepreneurs

Jonathan Kolozsvary, Global Head of Small Business, Visa Commercial Solutions, Visa: “Creators are among the most dynamic small business segments in the world. Our creator report showcases their ingenuity and guides how Visa is investing to empower the creator economy, providing specialized financial tools and resources that help creators scale their business locally and globally.”

Alongside the report, Visa outlined plans to explore an agentic pilot with Karat Financial, a fintech company that specialises in financial services for creators. The pilot would aim to reduce administrative friction in areas such as accounts receivable and payable management.

Key insights from the Monetized report

The study shows creators are proactively developing business skills through self-learning and peer support, particularly around contract negotiation and financial management. Core findings include:

Eighty-eight percent of surveyed creators expect their revenue to increase in the coming year.

Many creators rely on personal funds, crowdfunding and community support, pointing to a need for more creator-focused financial products.

Modern payment processors are preferred due to faster access to earnings, although delays remain common.

Creators operate globally, with 52 percent receiving payments from outside their home country.

Ninety-four percent receive strong encouragement from friends and family, reinforcing the legitimacy of content creation as a career path.

Tools designed to simplify creator operations

Visa is assessing ways to collaborate with Karat on a pilot intended to streamline financial management for creators. Potential features include:

Agentic automation to support the sending, receiving and tracking of payments with human oversight.

Automated reminders to help manage late invoices and brand payments.

A secure database for storing verified buyer and supplier information to save time and reduce fraud risk.

Karat brings experience in creator-focused financial services, including credit cards underwritten based on creator revenue and social metrics, as well as business banking tailored to creator needs.

Strengthening long-term support for creators

Visa formally recognised creators as small businesses at Web Summit in 2024. Its continued investment in creator-led tools, combined with findings from the report, reflects a broader strategy to support emerging entrepreneurs with advanced payment technologies, educational resources and flexible financial products.
