Tubi winks at workplace multitaskers with Productubity launch

Tubi, Fox Corporation’s free ad-supported streaming service, has introduced Productubity, a Chrome extension designed to let users discreetly switch between streaming and a faux productivity screen while at work.

The tool allows fans to toggle from Tubi content to a fabricated article on productivity with a single click, before switching back once the coast is clear.

The extension is available for download via the Chrome Web Store. It coincides with Tubi’s ongoing expansion, with the platform now serving more than 100 million monthly active users and offering 300,000 movies and TV episodes.

Deirdre Hesseldieck, Senior Vice President of Viewer Product, Tubi: "Return-to-office may be back, but so is streaming. Productubity is our cheeky nod to fans who sneak in a stream between spreadsheets. This tool is our way of helping fans reclaim their time and their tabs. It’s a wink to the modern multitasker who knows how to balance the deadlines with drama."

The extension also reflects findings from The Stream 2025: Audience Insights Shaping Streaming, a proprietary Tubi study conducted with The Harris Poll. The research highlighted shifting workplace streaming habits, especially among Gen Z employees:

84 percent of Gen Z workers report watching TV or movies while working

Half stream while on the clock

38 percent say they stream directly at their job site

Nearly 48 percent admit to lying to their supervisors about it

Productubity follows the launch of Tubi’s Free Forever ad campaign, which reinforces its position as a no-cost alternative to subscription-based platforms. Alongside its library of Hollywood films and TV shows, Tubi features creator-led stories from talent such as Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast), Jomboy Media and CelinaSpookyBoo, as well as hundreds of Tubi Originals.

By blending humour with consumer insight, the brand positions the extension as a lighthearted tool that taps into modern workplace realities while reinforcing its “free and fan-first” proposition.
