Novo Nordisk uses comedy duo to educate on type 2 Diabetes
Novo Nordisk has unveiled a new consumer campaign for Ozempic (semaglutide) injections in 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 2 mg doses, aiming to rethink traditional pharmaceutical advertising. The campaign, titled “There’s Only One Ozempic,” stars the celebrated comedy duo Justin Long and John Hodgman, who first gained fame together in mid-2000s TV commercials.
The campaign combines humor, lively banter, and everyday moments to encourage meaningful conversations between people living with type 2 diabetes and their doctors about GLP-1 treatment options. By focusing on relatable storytelling, the initiative seeks to educate patients on all FDA-approved uses for Ozempic and distinguish it from other GLP-1 treatments and unapproved compounded “semaglutide.”
Ed Cinca, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Patient Solutions, Novo Nordisk Inc “Not all GLP-1s are the same, and people with type 2 diabetes should talk with their doctors about whether Ozempic is right for them. With our campaign, we’re cutting through the noise with straightforward education about how Ozempic fits into care. It’s the only FDA-approved GLP-1 that improves blood sugar along with diet and exercise and reduces the risk of major cardiovascular events and worsening kidney disease—key information that can make a real difference when choosing a type 2 diabetes treatment.”

The campaign emphasizes looking beyond surface-level familiarity with GLP-1s, encouraging patients to seek credible information and engage in informed discussions with healthcare providers.
With the most FDA-approved uses among GLP-1s for type 2 diabetes, Ozempic is prescribed to improve blood sugar control, reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events, and lower the risk of worsening kidney disease in adults. Novo Nordisk stresses that only its FDA-approved semaglutide medicines meet rigorous safety, effectiveness, and quality standards.
Long and Hodgman are paid spokespeople for Novo Nordisk and do not live with type 2 diabetes or take Ozempic.
Justin Long: “Humor has a way of opening the door to conversations people might otherwise avoid. This campaign meets people where they are consuming content while helping them feel comfortable enough to learn more about their health.”
John Hodgman: “It’s important for people to learn more about their medication options and have that discussion with their doctors. This campaign encourages meaningful conversations that can truly make a difference.”
The campaign represents a patient-focused approach that combines education, entertainment, and credible messaging to help people make informed choices about their treatment.
