As the curtains come down on The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2025, one thing has been made clear. This was more than a celebration, it was a statement.
From emotional storytelling to AI-powered innovation, the event marked a pivotal moment in the evolving relationship between brands, technology, and culture.While "purpose-driven" campaigns have long been a staple at Cannes, 2025 saw a significant shift: purpose no longer stood alone.
The most awarded works demonstrated measurable impact, tying social good to business outcomes. Panels this year echoed one message: creativity now has a seat at the business table.
Historic wins and first-time glories
Cannes Lions 2025 witnessed an unprecedented surge in new voices, with a sizeable number of shortlisted and awarded campaigns coming from agencies or creators entering the festival for the first time. From independent boutiques to in-house brand teams, the festival underscored that creative pedigree is evolving.
France, India,South Korea, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Australia and GoDaddy celebrated first-time Cannes Lions Grand Prix wins, in key categories. The French Riviera avenue was transformed into a true out-of-season carnival as those in attendance were treated to disruptive flavors. Blueprints were launched calling on CMOs to harness sustainability as a driver of business growth, innovations unveiled to transform marketing and creativity and partnerships enhanced to scale offerings and grow customer base.
Campaigns of the week
The Amsterdam-based bicycle manifacturer recently introduced the S6 Series with the campaign “Ride like no other.” To add impact to its first launch under the wing of McLaren Applied, VanMoof has now also created a brand film “like no other”—a beautifully shot, slightly absurd campaign in which an S6 descends and lands in a gridlocked city.
Oars + Alps, men’s skincare brand has unveiled a campaign to get more men back into the sunshine to improve their quality of life – under the assured protection of Oars + Alps award-winning suncare, of course.
The timelessly refreshing duo of smartwater and Jennifer Aniston share the screen again in 2025 for a new campaign inspiring fans to make simple, smart choices that support a healthy lifestyle.
