KFC puts pickles on the cultural menu
The campaign promotes the KFC x Pickles offer by targeting both dedicated pickle fans and consumers who are curious about the flavour.
KFC Australia and creative agency Special have turned the growing interest in pickles into a lifestyle concept with the launch of the Picklecore campaign, supporting KFC’s limited-time pickle menu.
Under the platform It’s not a garnish. It’s a lifestyle, the campaign applies fashion and culture references to KFC’s pickle-themed menu.
Special builds Picklecore around KFC menu
The limited-time range includes the Pickle Burger, Pickle Pepsi Max, Frickles and Pickle Loaded Chips. Special developed an exaggerated Picklecore identity around the products, extending the pickle theme beyond food.
Tom Martin, CCO and Partner at Special: “We didn't just drop a menu item - we built an entire subculture. By giving this LTO the high-fashion treatment it deserved, we turned a flavor obsession into full-blown Picklecore. It’s unapologetic, gloriously weird, and proves that when you lean into cultural absurdity, people don't just eat the food - they live the lifestyle.”
The campaign began with teaser billboards featuring fictional Picklecore products including pickle pants, watches and lipstick. It then expanded across social and culture channels with podcaster and radio host Luisa Dal Din.
KFC campaign blends food and fashion
A 15-second hero film uses the visual language of a high-fashion campaign and a techno soundtrack to present the Picklecore concept. The film is supported by out-of-home, social and audio activity.
Vanessa Rowed, CMO, KFC SOPAC: “Continuing to push boundaries and lean into culture is at the heart of our success story. Picklecore is more than just a menu launch - it’s an invitation to our fans and the 'pickle-curious' to experience KFC in a totally new way.
“It shines a light on how we can take a passionate food obsession and turn it into bold, entertaining work, giving our biggest lovers of the brand an unmissable reason to drop in while driving real commercial momentum during a key period.”
