Jung von Matt and Sparkasse launch piggy bank horror game on Fortnite
Jung von Matt Sports has partnered with German bank Sparkasse to launch a horror-themed experience on Fortnite. The game, Schwein Gehabt – an expression that translates to having a pig but also means being lucky – tasks players with rescuing piggy bank Berta from a haunted house while completing challenges.
The project was developed in collaboration with gaming studio Beyond Creative and marks Sparkasse’s first activation on Fortnite. The bank has previously invested in gaming through partnerships with esports team Eintracht Spandau, led by streamer HandofBlood, in a joint venture with agency Instinct3 and Jung von Matt Nerd, a sister agency of Jung von Matt Sports.
Horror trailer drives campaign launch
To promote the Fortnite experience, Jung von Matt Sports created a horror-movie style trailer with Passion Pictures. The campaign shows a young girl terrorising a piggy bank, reinforcing the eerie theme.
Sparkasse will extend the initiative into its physical branches across Germany. Branch activations include giveaways, cardboard displays and promotional products linked to the game.

Gaming as a cultural touchpoint
Janine Schumann, head of campaign management, Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe: "Anyone aiming to reach young people today must understand their culture – and participate in shaping it. That's why we have worked closely with the gaming community from the very beginning. 'Schwein Gehabt' is not a marketing stunt, but a contemporary experience that takes gaming seriously — in attitude, quality, and storytelling."
Kevin Claus, client service director, Jung von Matt Sports: "The savings banks have once again demonstrated, through the ambitious development of 'Schwein Gehabt', that they understand the importance of the most significant entertainment industry, gaming, in the everyday lives of many young people. We are proud to be part of this journey from the very beginning and look forward to the community's feedback and the upcoming highlights that will follow this year."
