Hyundai salutes young drivers with Kona campaign

The initiative forms part of Hyundai's OKAY Hyundai platform, which focuses on culturally relevant storytelling and audience engagement

Hyundai Motor America has launched Look At You Now, a campaign for the 2026 Hyundai Kona featuring actor and producer Regina Hall. Developed in collaboration with Culture Brands, Hyundai's African American marketing agency of record, the campaign aims to connect with younger consumers through stories centred on personal milestones and independence.

The initiative forms part of Hyundai's OKAY Hyundai platform, which focuses on culturally relevant storytelling and audience engagement.

Focus on life transitions

The campaign highlights moments associated with adulthood, including moving into a first apartment, beginning a career and navigating new relationships.

Through these scenarios, Hyundai positions the Kona as a vehicle designed to support consumers entering new stages of life, with a focus on practicality, technology and value.

Regina Hall leads campaign narrative

The lead advertisement follows Regina Hall as she observes drivers reaching personal milestones while using the Hyundai Kona.

Featured scenes include a young woman moving into her first apartment, a couple travelling through the city and a teacher arriving at work. Throughout the film, Regina Hall comments on these moments with the recurring phrase, "Look at you now. Doing your thing."

Hyundai targets younger consumers

Sean Gilpin, Chief Marketing Officer, Hyundai Motor America: "'Look At You Now' is about recognizing the meaningful milestones that don't always come with a big announcement, but still deserve to be celebrated. For many younger consumers, a vehicle represents more than transportation, it represents progress, independence and a smart investment in their future. With the 2026 Kona, Hyundai is showing up with the design, technology, safety and value that support them as they move into what's next."

The campaign is based on Hyundai's view that many Gen Z consumers are balancing independence, financial considerations and self-expression as they move through major life transitions.

Cultural relevance remains central

Erik Thomas, Director, Experiential and Multicultural Marketing, Hyundai Motor America: "This campaign reflects Hyundai's continued commitment to creating work that is culturally grounded, audience-first and built around real consumer experiences. With Regina Hall at the center, 'Look At You Now' brings humor, recognition and relatability to the moments when young Black drivers are defining success on their own terms."

Culture Brands worked with Hyundai to develop the creative approach, with Regina Hall serving as the campaign's central figure and narrator.

Campaign highlights vehicle features

Eunique Jones Gibson, Founder and CEO, Culture Brands: "Regina Hall brings the perfect balance of humor, heart and cultural familiarity to this campaign. She feels like the big sister, auntie or friend who sees you stepping into your next chapter before you even stop to acknowledge it yourself. Through her eyes, the Kona becomes more than a vehicle, it becomes a marker of growth, independence and arrival."

The campaign also highlights features available on the 2026 Hyundai Kona, including Blind-Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, dual 12.3-inch displays, ventilated seats and connectivity technologies.

Rollout spans multiple platforms

Look At You Now will run across broadcast, digital, social media and YouTube channels, supported by shorter executions focused on specific vehicle features.

Additional content includes a 15-second advertisement demonstrating Remote Smart Parking Assist, alongside social-first content highlighting performance, comfort and technology features available on the Kona.
