FC Barcelona and Spotify launch Ed Sheeran jersey takeover
Ed Sheeran will feature on FC Barcelona’s jersey for this month’s El Clásico as part of Spotify’s artist jersey series. When Barça face Real Madrid on October 26, players will wear shirts displaying the title of Sheeran’s new album, Play, making him the first male solo pop artist to appear on the club’s iconic kit.
The partnership marks the seventh edition of Spotify’s collaboration with FC Barcelona, which has previously highlighted artists including Rosalía, Coldplay, Drake, The Rolling Stones, and Travis Scott. The initiative replaces the Spotify logo with that of a featured artist during one of football’s most-watched matches.
A collaboration rooted in creativity and community
Sheeran’s Play, his eighth studio album, explores themes of joy, connection, and cultural exchange—values that align with FC Barcelona’s creative spirit and global reach.
Ed Sheeran: “Seeing Play on the Barça shirt is something I’m proud of. I’m a big fan of football and FC Barcelona, and I love that we get to merge the worlds of music and football in such a fun way.”
The special-edition shirt will be worn by both the men’s and women’s teams, with FC Barcelona Femení debuting it on October 19 in their Liga F match against Granada.
Limited-edition drop and gaming debut
Beyond the pitch, the collaboration expands into digital spaces. On October 23, the jersey will appear in eFootball, marking the first time a Spotify and FC Barcelona jersey takeover features in a gaming environment.
The partnership also includes a capsule collection, launching October 15 at 10 a.m. CEST in Barça Official Stores and online. The range features a 2004/2005-inspired retro jersey—referencing the year Sheeran began recording—and 1,899 limited-edition kits, a nod to the club’s founding year.

Music meets football on a global stage
With more than 92 million monthly listeners and 14 tracks in Spotify’s Billions Club, Sheeran is among the most-streamed artists worldwide. His music already features in FC Barcelona’s matchday playlists and dressing room soundtrack.
Robert Lewandowski: “Ed’s songs have been part of our playlist for a long time. Seeing his new album on the shirt feels really special.”
Since the launch of the Spotify × FC Barcelona partnership, fans have streamed more than 182 million plays of Barça matchday playlists. The ongoing jersey takeovers have become a hallmark of El Clásico, merging music and football while connecting global fan communities both on and off the field.
